In Concert is the successor CD set to the individual releases of Absolutely Live (which remains in print as a single CD), Alive, She Cried, and Live at the Hollywood Bowl – as none of them presented more than a single angle or two of the group's sound and each confined itself to only a portion of the group's repertoire, the three-in-one release makes perfect sense and is a decent bargain…

Released on the heels of the stilted, static Cahoots, the double-album Rock of Ages occupies a curious yet important place in Band history. Recorded at a spectacular New Years Eve 1971 gig, the show and album were intended to be a farewell of sorts before the Band took an extended break in 1972, but it turned out to be a last hurrah in many different ways, closing the chapter on the first stage of their career, when they were among the biggest and most important rock & roll bands…

Stone the Crows was a tough-luck, working class, progressive soul band that came out of the pubs of Scotland in the early '70s. They had everything going for them at the start: not one, but two gritty singers, a talented guitarist, a rhythm section that had played with John Mayall, and the name recognition of having Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant as their producer. Despite favorable reviews by the critics, however, they never managed to sell their hybridized soul music to a large audience.

Jerry Lee Lewis 1986 appearance at Orlando’s Church Street Station is known among his fans as one of the more complete documents of the piano-abusing hell-raiser, somewhat mellowed by then but still emanating an underlying aura of menace and unpredictability. Lewis knows he’s got the smiling, clean-cut crowd in the palm of his hand, teasing before pleasing as he leads his slick band through catalogue highlights, ranging from Great Balls Of Fire through country outings such as You Win Again to self-referential latter-day rockers the likes of Middle Age Crazy.

Even being quite a Simon and Garfunkel fan, and a keen follower of Paul Simon's solo career, wasn't enough to convince me that Paul Simon could cut it live without "Artie". Sure, I have enough of his solo albums to know that he can still write great songs, but a live Paul Simon solo performance is something I have never been overly interested in seeing. Fortunately, the man surprised me with his ability to put on a good show, and by the time he was really rocking, so was I. Paul Simon - You're The One: In Concert was filmed at Music Hall Paris Capucines, Theatre De l'Olympia October 30 and 31, 2000 and combines the best of each performance.

In 1990 John Martyn undertook a series of concerts at the Shaw Theatre, London, playing his comeback album, "The Apprentice". These concerts were filmed and released on video in 1990, but later deleted in 1995. Now for the first time, this concert is available as a DVD release.
Singer/songwriter/guitarist John Martyn was born Iain David McGeachy on September 11, 1948, in New Malden, Surrey, and raised in Glasgow by his grandmother. He began his innovative and expansive career at the age of 17 with a style influenced by American blues artists such as Robert Johnson and Skip James, the traditional music of his homeland, and the eclectic folk of Davey Graham (Graham remained an influence and idol of Martyn's throughout his career).

When Joe Louis Walker exploded onto the blues scene in the late 1980’s, he was hailed as a breath of fresh air. He enlivened a somewhat stagnating scene with his energetic, emotional, original approach to combining hard-core electric blues with elements of soul and gospel. This 1991 live-performance DVD, from the German concert t.v. series “Ohne Filter”, captures him and his equally energetic band, the Bosstalkers, at their early peak.
