All the World's a Stage is a double live album by Canadian rock band Rush. The album was recorded at Massey Hall in Toronto on June 11 through 13 during their 2112 tour. Similar to a lyric in the track "Limelight" from 1981's album Moving Pictures, the title of this album alludes to William Shakespeare's play As You Like It.

Collecting the band's first five albums, Rush, Fly by Night, Caress of Steel, 2112, and the live album All the World’s a Stage, the set shows Rush finding their feet artistically as they grow from a Led Zeppelin-inspired blues-rock band on their debut to the wildly ambitious band that released 2112, an album with a 20-minute title track…

Permanent Waves is the band’s seventh studio album, released on New Year’s Day, 1980. It was recorded at Le Studio, Morin Heights, Quebec, and mixed at Trident Studios in London. The tracks were laid down just shy of four weeks, in part attributed to the idyllic working conditions of Morin Heights. The album marks a transition from long, conceptual pieces, into a more accessible, radio-friendly style.

This 1977 release, the band's fifth studio album, was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales and mixed in London's Advision Studios. It became the band's first U.S. gold-selling album within two months of release, and went platinum. The singles included "Closer to the Heart" and "Cinderella Man" while the album peaked at #33 on the Billboard 200 and #22 on the U.K. album charts.

Another favorite of true Rush fans, this sixth studio album, released in 1978, once more explored fantasy and science fiction themes in Neil Peart’s lyrics. The final track, the ambitious nine-and-a-half minute La Villa Strangiato, was the band’s first instrumental. The album peaked at #47 on the Billboard charts, and was the group’s fourth consecutive gold album in the U.S., featuring the singles The Trees and Circumstances.
