Esperanto were a European progressive rock outfit of somewhat unusual origin. Belgian violinist Raymond Vincent, pianist and musicologist Bruno Libert, and a pair of Italo-Belgian brothers, bassist Gino Malisan and his brother drummer, Tony Malisan. The core of the band was Belgian but it was on a trip to England that the original Belgian unit found the remaining members that would give Esperanto their unique sound…

Esperanto was a Belgo-English rock band which had a short career at the beginning of the 70s. Esperanto drew their name from their varied nationalities, ranging from England to the U.S. to Italy to New Zealand and Australia, although the band itself was formed by a Belgian and was briefly based out of that country before traveling to England in search of a record deal. This, their debut album, featured a large cast including at least three different lead singers, although the lineup would prove to be fluid both during the recording sessions and throughout the band's brief career. After Hooverphonic’s return in 2011, Alex Callier finally realized his childhood dream by playing his songs accompanied by a symphonic orchestra. Hooverphonic’s beautiful ballads were infused with even more depth in these orchestral interpretations. The project was received by sold out concert halls and the album Hooverphonic With Orchestra entered the charts at number one. Alex Callier, Raymond Geerts and Noémie Wolfs, the successful successor of Geike Arnaert, collaborate with a grand orchestra to bring you orchestral versions of their greatest songs such as ‘The World Is Mine’, ‘The Night Before’, ‘Anger Never Dies’, ‘Happiness’ and the cover of Massive Attack’s ‘Unfinished Sympathy’.

This original soundtrack (from the cult movie) was released in late 1970 by French Motors label. The fabulous music was created by then unknown French-Canadian-British rock band Clinic (which was chosen after the Pink Floyd weren't available), pop singer Christophe (present on just two tracks) and Bernard Gerard Orchestra (responsible for two classical interludes). All the songs were sung in English, although most of an album was filled with instrumental and truly amazing, early Pink Floyd-like psychedelic sounds (with Hammond organ, mellotron, flute, hypnotic bass notes, whispering voices) combined with late 60’s French/British pop tunes. With the exception of 'More' it's really hard to imagine a better movie soundtrack from late 60's/early 70's rock era!

Rhino has a history of doing things up right, but this time it's outdone itself. More than five hours of prog, from The Nice to Golden Earring, presented thoroughly and largely chronologically. Depending on your outlook, it's either heaven or hell. There's plenty here to occupy the idle, drug-riddled mind; some well known (Focus's "Hocus Pocus," ELP's "Knife Edge," Genesis) and some wonderfully obscure…

Though VO was a russian PROG-ROCK ORCHESTRA and its leader (Sergej Schurakov who died at the age of 47 in 2007) was an accordeonist, the presented album is string-dominated and maybe not rock-album at all. Modern classical music. And it's brilliant…

Let There Be Rock is the fourth studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, released in March 1977. All songs were written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott. It was originally released on Albert Productions. A modified international edition was released on Atlantic Records in June 1977. Let There Be Rock was also the last AC/DC recording to feature bassist Mark Evans, who previously played on T.N.T. (1975) and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (1976). On 3 April 1977, AC/DC filmed a live performance of "Dog Eat Dog" for Australia's Countdown. In July 1977, the band further promoted Let There Be Rock by filming a music video for the album's title track. Recorded in a church in Perth, it featured Scott as a priest and the rest of the band as altar boys. more…
