The latest in-store compilation from Starbucks Entertainment is the perfect summer sampler, an 18-track collection of old and new surf tunes, from classics of the genre like Dick Dale's "Miserlou," the Marketts' "Out of Limits," and the Chantays' "Pipeline" to tracks from surf revivalists like Laika & the Cosmonauts' "N.Y. '79," making this set a nice introduction to all that is surf and summer.
The Finnish progressive rock appreciation and fan society Colossus has been making a rather good name for itself in recent years, ever since it started issuing a line of project releases back in 2000. In collaboration with the legendary French record label Musea, more than a dozen concepts have been conceived, executed and issued. Both albums were started at the same time, both are two-CD sets consisting of six epics, both are based on movies by Sergio Leone. UK act The Dreaming Tree was formed sometime after the millenium, but didn't evolve towards a real band project until 2004, when forming duo Chris Buckler and Neil Ablard met Dan Jones on an engineering course. Dan was invited to join the duo's musical escapades, and soon after Jim Peterson and Steve Barratt agreed to take part in this endeavour as well…
