Air are a French electronic band formed by Nicolas Godin and Jean Benoît Dunckel in 1995. Their name comes from the initials of "amour", "imagination" and "rêve" – French for "love", "imagination" and "dream" – which is reflected in the soft textures of their music. The atmospheric nature of their music has been in great demand from other sectors, including advertising for cars and jeans, video… 10 000 Hz Legend is their third album released in May 2001.On this album, tracks are longer and more electronic-oriented than on their previous records. These experimentations find the duo expanding their capacities and working with other artists including Beck and Buffalo Daughter.

In the mid-50s, as rock’n’roll swept across the USA, the Cajun youth of South Louisiana and South East Texas absorbed the R&B sounds emanating from New Orleans. This was reflected in their music, making it so distinctive. They thrilled to the sound of Fats Domino, Smiley Lewis and Huey Smith and performed their songs with the bands they formed, while the area’s new breed of songwriters – Bobby Charles, Jimmy Donley, Jivin’ Gene, etc – assimilated the Crescent City style in their work. Swamp pop was born, although the genre had yet to be named.
