After the one-two punch of Phil Collins' first two solo albums, Face Value and Hello, I Must Be Going!, plus the hits he was concurrently having with Genesis, it might seem like he was primed for an artistic and commercial drop-off. Instead, he responded with the biggest album of his career. No Jacket Required topped the charts in the U.S. and U.K., won a Grammy for Album of the Year, and spawned four Top Ten singles, including two number ones in "Sussudio" and "One More Night." It was such a monster success that it made Collins one of the biggest stars on the planet, something that a few years before seemed unlikely if not impossible…

Spawning four hit singles, But Seriously topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. While pursuing much of the same formula as on No Jacket Required, there was also a move toward more organic production as Collins abandoned some of the drum machines and prominent keyboards in the up-tempo numbers in favor of live instrumentation…

In May 1978 Steve Hackett released Please Don’t Touch, his second solo album and his first after he left Genesis. Like Peter Gabriel on his debut Steve wanted to include as many musical styles as possible and create a crossover from white and black music. He therefore recorded one half of the album in the UK and the other half in the United States. In 2005, Please Don't Touch! was remastered and re-released by Hackett's Camino Records label. The new edition features updated liner notes and three bonus tracks.

Some remember his past as an art rock / prog musician with Spectral Mornings and other great records – and sundry fine rock and prog side projects. Now he indulges in his love for classical music. On Feb 11 [2008] his Tribute to his guitar role models was published. On this album Steve Hackett plays nothing but nylon guitar. Pure acoustic guitar, as it were. Light acoustic guitar sounds lead the listener straightaway into the world of classical guitar music.

Wolflight is Steve's first original solo studio album since Beyond The Shrouded Horizon in 2011. Primal and orchestral, it retains the Hackett trademark as electric guitar runs right the way through with a regular sprinkling of acoustic. The concept behind it is a new unexplored chapter in the guitarist's career.
