Mary Frances Penick, better known as Skeeter Davis, was an American country music singer who sang crossover pop music songs. She started out as part of the Davis Sisters as a teenager in the late 1940s, eventually landing on RCA Victor. In the late 1950s, she became a solo star. One of the first women to achieve major stardom in the country music field as a solo vocalist, she was an acknowledged influence on Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton and was hailed as an "extraordinary country/pop singer" by The New York Times music critic Robert Palmer.

During a three-day period in 1965, trumpeter Chet Baker (who during the era was exclusively playing flugelhorn) recorded five albums for Prestige that were soon forgotten, despite their quality. In 1997, the entire program was reissued on three CDs (which also include Lonely Star and On a Misty Night), showing that Baker was in excellent form at the time. Chet is teamed with tenor saxophonist George Coleman, pianist Kirk Lightsey (in top form), bassist Herman Wright and drummer Roy Brooks; the one-time gathering group on the whole sometimes recalls the Miles Davis Quintet of 1956.

Like her mother before her, beautiful Sissy wants to be a dancer at the Tropicana, Havana's famous cabaret. But her truck driving father, Candido, forbids her to do so because of his ongoing grudge against Armando, his former rival and choreographer at the nightclub. When Candido and his friend Promedio accidentally run Sergito over, Promedio sees the star-shaped mole on the boy's buttock, identical to Candido's. Much to Sissy's delight and to Promedio's dismay for fear of incest, Candido takes the boy home, unaware that Sergito is his son and therefore Sissy's brother. Promedio's worries are confirmed when the two youngsters fall madly in love.

Beauty, purity, and expressivity mark out music for upper voice choirs. On this recording, performed by one of the UK’s leading vocal ensembles, the repertoire embraces classics of the genre such as Gustav Holst’s sublime Ave Maria and his third group of Hymns from the Rig Veda, as well as contemporary music. James MacMillan and Sir John Tavener are represented by works that explore their unique musical language, whilst Bob Chilcott’s technically demanding The Song of the Stars offers richly approachable pleasures.

This is a great movie about the RAF's Bomber Command in WW II. It has a superb cast and the photography is exquisite. Although there are no aerial action scenes, wartime tension dominates every frame. Especially well handled are the rivalry and competition between the British Airmen and their American counterparts from the 8th Air Force. This is a must view for those who are interested in the Allied Air Crews who fought in the Air War over Fortress Europa during the bleak years from 1939-1944. The secret? "Keep Calm and Carry On."
