The Zombies are a British pop group, first active in the 1960s. Following The Beatles in 1964 as part of "The British Invasion" of the USA, they were the second UK group to score an American #1 hit. The Zombies were uniquely different, with a subtler style, often jazzier and more inventive chord structures, the prominent keyboards of Rod Argent, and the distinctive voice of Colin Blunstone. She's Not There and Tell Her No were quick hits, but despite continually stunning musical output that has influenced other artists ever since, another hit record was more than four years away, after they'd broken up! This collection, remastered for SACD, covers the Zombies' short and tasteful career, spanning their 1964-1967 years for Decca Records, and their single album, the classic Odessey & Oracle, for Epic Records in 1968…

The Ames Brothers were one of the most popular of those groups, making their US chart debut in 1948, and racking up a lengthy string of hits over the next few years, including memorable No. 1s like Rag Mop, Sentimental Me and You, You, You.

Rockets' history starts in Paris (France), in the year 1972, when they were known under the name Crystal. In 1974, they changed their name to Rocket Men (or Rocketters) as five aliens, bald, with grey eyes, silver skin and space suits, recording the single 'Rocket Man' produced by Claude Lemoine, who would become their producer 'til 1983. In 1975, they changed their name in Rockets and recorded a single 'Future woman'. In 1976, their first LP entitled, 'Rockets' was released in France, and the group launched a series of phantasmagoric live shows which involved vocoder, lasers, coloured lights, smoke and a bazooka fighting flames three…

Of course, the star attractions here are the amazing 30 Stereo Debuts that read like a who’s who of 60s pop & rock: “The Loco-Motion,” “Hey! Baby,” “Hey Paula,” “Little Children,” “As Tears Go By” and even two great instrumentals, the sultry sax of “Harlem Nocturne” and the glorious stereo twang and cattle calls of “(Ghost) Riders in the Sky.” But we don’t mean to forget The Honeycombs’ foot-stomper “Have I The Right?” or the thundering drum guitar organ intro from “California Sun.” You’ve just never heard them like this!
