Hard To Believe: A Kiss Covers Compilation is a 1992 alternative music tribute album for the American hard rock band Kiss. Organized by C/Z Records of Seattle and Australian label Waterfront Records, it featured then-exclusive Kiss covers by Nirvana, Melvins, Bullet Lavolta, Smelly Tongues, Skin Yard, Coffin Break, Hard Ons, and many others. This CD also features three bonus tracks. This is the original version when they used Kiss' logo and when Nirvana's presence made them sue, it forced the company to change it or face consequences.

Double Platinum is a double-album, 20-track collection that gathers all of Kiss' biggest hits ("Rock and Roll All Nite," "Beth," "Detroit Rock City," "Calling Dr. Love," "Love Gun"), but what makes it an essential retrospective and introduction is that it doesn't overlook key album tracks and concert favorites like "Cold Gin," "Deuce," "Black Diamond," and "She." If "Strutter" was represented by the original version, instead of a pointless 1978 remake – which was recorded only to entice collectors into buying an album of music they already owned – Double Platinum would have been a definitive collection, but as it stands, it's simply a very, very good overview. Carnival of Souls: The Final Sessions is the 17th studio album from American rock band Kiss. Originally slated for a 1996 release, it was ultimately not released until 1997. It was the band's final album with lead guitarist Bruce Kulick. The album is a departure from the band's classic hard rock style, in favor of a dark and dense grunge-oriented sound.

Although Unmasked was certified gold shortly after its release in the U.S., it quickly fell off the charts. Deciding factors included the band's failure to mount a stateside tour, the fact that the majority of the compositions on Unmasked were easily forgettable, and longtime fans' weariness with Kiss' attempts to branch out into other musical styles…

Sonically, Kiss retained their revitalized roar throughout Asylum, turning in a tough but supple performance that would have been more impressive if the songs were stronger.

Animalize was more successful than the previous Lick It Up, but that's only because its predecessor had accomplished the job of restoring the band's reputation among adolescents. While it followed the same pattern as Lick It Up, most of the songs were second-rate, with the noticeable exception of the smoldering "Heaven's on Fire."

Dynasty marked the first time that the original four members of Kiss didn't all appear together for the entire album – session drummer Anton Fig subbed for Peter Criss due to the latter's erratic behavior and injuries sustained in a serious car crash…

Judged against Kiss' previous Alive! albums, Alive III doesn't hold up particularly well. Instead of relying on raw energy and ridiculous but dynamic showmanship, the band plays like the professionals they are, performing a competent set that never catches fire. However, if Alive III is judged against Kiss' late-'80s and early-'90s records, it holds up very well. By cutting away the filler that plagued their studio records, the band is left with a consistently entertaining batch of songs served up with style. It might not be as exciting as the first two Alive albums, but Alive III provides more thrills than most of the group's records of the previous decade. Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
