This reissue sound very nice! (This rip can be your next "go to" version of this LP.)
Another excellent 1975 Atlantic reissue. I've heard different pressings of this LP and this has me amazed. Normally one wrinkle your nose when you hear the word "re-issue". But like everything, there are good and bad … and good reissues, they are very good! This is another great example, to clear doubts listen the most troubled and silent tracks: The Devil's Triangle (First 25 seconds), Cadence And Cascade, Peace - A Theme, etc. Is that the quality, detail, texture and sound separation… is without discussion.

"Pictures of a City" seems meant to pick up where "20th Century Schizoid Man" left off, with it's furious ensemble passages, knotty Fripp guitar leads and Greg Lake's authoritative vocal. "Cadence and Cascade" helps fill out the ballad quotient with a beautiful, wispy vocal from transitional singer Gordon Haskell. A valuable note of humor is interjected into the proceedings via the jokey, off-handedly jazzy "Cat Food." Keith Tippet's piano and Mel Collins' sax–both soon to play larger roles–were introduced on POSEIDON as well.

In the Wake of Poseidon is the second studio album by the progressive rock group King Crimson. By the time this album was released, the band had already undergone their first change in line-up, however they still maintained much of the style of their first album, In the Court of the Crimson King. Also like their first album, the mood of this album often changes from serene to chaotic. (Wiki)

"In the Wake of Poseidon" was well received on release, but was criticised as sounding very similar in both style and content to the band's debut album, to the point where it seemed like an imitation.
Upon release, "Poseidon" reached No. 4 in the UK album chart – one position higher than their debut, & the highest chart placing the band would enjoy in Britain.
This edition of the album contains the single version of "Cat Food" and it's B-side "Groon" as additional tracks, presenting, for the 1st time, King Crimson's studio recordings of the period on one CD.

The early CRIMSON albums have always been a personal fav of fine and "In The Wake Of Poseidon" is a wonderful journey. Oft criticized album consider by pundits a mirror of their debut album, in contrast for me, "…Poseidon" sparkles with original character full of some breathtaking KING CRIMSON musical moments. To this day "Cadence And Cascade" remains one of the most emotional and nostalgic songs of all time for me. Title track "In The Wake Of Poseidon" is one of my all time favorite tracks from KING CRIMSON of all time… loads of mellotron and some grand musical escapades. With the mystical lyrics of Pete Sinfield, "…Poseidon" will fill your ears with a nice range of musical idea, textures and full instrumentation.

Album Details Recorded over a period of 10 days in August 1969 & released on October 10th of the same year In The Court Of The Crimson King stands as one of the defining albums of British rock music & one of the finest debut albums of all time. Described at the time as "an uncanny masterpiece" by Pete Townshend, the album has achieved legendary status over the years. It is the only studio document of an extraordinary year in the life of King Crimson; a year that began with the group's first rehearsals on January 13th, included a residency at the Marquee Club, a concert in Hyde Park with The Rolling Stones, the recording and release of the album and ended with the dissolution of the lineup at the close of Crimson's 1st American tour in December. In the 40 years since its release In The Court of the Crimson King has never been out of print or unavailable in any of the world's main music markets & continues to enjoy consistently high sales. Now expanded with a completely new mix, previously unreleased tracks & a stunning 5.1 Surround Sound mix. Steven Wilson said of the mixing work "The intention is certainly not to try to replace or supersede the 1969 mix (which, like many classic albums, is what it is partly because of the limitations of the original recording circumstances), but to provide an alternate perspective to what must now be considered not only a rock masterpiece, but also the foundation stone of progressive rock."

Making order on my vinyl library, I found my old copy of "In the court of the Crimson King". It is an original US pressing in textured gatefold sleeve. With great shape and pretty good sound quality (I recommend listening "I Talk To The Wind").
