Looking at the cover, which shows Michael and none of his four brothers, one wouldn’t get the idea that this three-disc set is two-thirds Jackson 5 material. While Michael obviously features prominently in the Jackson 5 songs on The Motown Years, he gets one disc to himself. Altogether, this box collects all the essential J5 and Michael singles and more, including 'ABC', 'Never Can Say Goodbye', 'I Found That Girl', 'I Am Love', 'The Love You Save', 'Ben', 'Rockin’ Robin', and 'I Wanna Be Where You Are'. Released in the U.K., it retails for the price of a single disc and is a convenient way to scoop up a large quantity of high-quality ‘70s pop-soul.

This is the Jackson 5 set to get containing all their important hits plus well chosen B-sides and album tracks. Being chronological means you see their development from 1969 to 1975. I will say no more about the early songs other than they are golden concoctions of pop magic perfected by motown's fearsomely high standards. By 1972 their star had cooled slightly and Michael was now a gangly teenager unsure what to do with his now broken voice, though songs like Looking Through the Windows and Little Bitty Pretty One show the fire was still there.

Soul Source: Jackson 5 Remixes 2 is the sequel to the first volume of J5 remixes released in 2001 by Motown Japan. Like the first one, this features a mixture of Japanese producers along with artists known in the "western" world, including the Jungle Brothers, DJ Spinna, and 4Hero. Just like the first volume which featured one song that was not a proper remix, the Jungle Brothers contribution is a cover of "It's Great To Be Here", done without their trademark rapping.

Soul Source: Jackson 5 Remixes is a Japan-only CD released in 2000 by Motown Japan. It is a remix project featuring primarily Japanese producers remixing songs from the original Jackson 5 multi-tracks. The exception is an actual cover version of "I Wanna Be Where You Are" by singer Monday Michiru. Producer/remixer Kenny Dope Gonzalez was the only American at the time of release to be on this project with a remix of "It's Great To Be Here". There are a few other Soul Source projects at Avaxhome and like those, this one was put together by Yanai Kenichi. Some of the remixes stay close to the originals while others are radical rearrangements.

Live In Tokyo is a bootleg CD by the Jackson 5 from the group's tour of Asia when they stopped in Tokyo on 22 April, 1973 at the Imperial Palace. This soundboard recording shows what they were about before Michael Jackson left the group, and shows the unity the brothers had at the time. Some of the dialogue they do with each other does not work fantastically with the Japanese crowd but it works for everyone else who get it, the it being brotherly arguments, fake or otherwise.

The roots of the "King of Pop" are in the Soul: Michael Jackson celebrated with his brothers as the Jackson 5 already in his childhood chart successes. "ABC", "I Want You Back" or "I'll Be There" - with the ease and the perfection of its polyphonic singing and the apparent innocence captivated her audience and laid the foundation for one of the most successful Popkarrieren the 20th century.
