Alkaline Igneous Rocks

Alkaline Igneous Rocks by F.G. Fitton
English | Apr. 1987 | ISBN: 0632016167 | 576 Pages | PDF | 56 MB

The papers contained in this volume were presented at a symposium held in Edinburgh in September 1984, which marked the passage of ten years since the publication of The Alkaline Rocks edited by Henning Sorensen. In organizing the symposium and compiling this volume we aimed to review recent developments in the petrology and geochemistry of alkaline igneous rocks. We have, for example, paid particular attention to work on lamprophyres and carbonatites which are rock associations of current interest not covered in Sorensen's book.

Earth Materials by Kevin Hefferan, John O'Brien
English | 2010 | ISBN: 1444334603 | 624 pages | PDF | 49,7 MB

Minerals and rocks form the foundation of geologic studies. Excellent textbooks currently exist in mineralogy, igneous petrology, sedimentary petrology and metamorphic petrology. It is not our intention to compete with these textbooks. However, many universities have compressed separate mineralogy and petrology courses into a one- or two-semester Earth Materials course.

It is not our intention to compete with these textbooks. However, many universities have compressed separate mineralogy and petrology courses into a one- or two-semester Earth Materials course. Presently, no textbook adequately addresses the needs of an Earth Materials course. We have developed a textbook that encompasses the study of minerals, rocks as well as soil and water.

The glossary of igneous terms has been fully updated since the first edition and now includes 1633 entries, of which 312 are recommended by the Subcommission.

Petrology of Sedimentary Rocks
The Blackburn Press | November 2003 | ISBN: 1930665822 | 707 pages | PDF | 5 mb

This textbook highlights the physical, chemical, and biologic properties of sedimentary rocks, revealed through petrographic microscopy, geochemical techniques, and field study. Fully updated and discussing several cutting-edge techniques, this second edition is ideal for advanced undergraduates and graduates in sedimentary petrology, and for researchers and professional petroleum geoscientists.
