The only in-depth biographical account of the lead singer of Joy Division, written by his widow.

Revered by his peers – Bono described his voice as "holy" – and idolized by his fans, Ian Curtis left behind a legacy rich in artistic genius. He was a mesmerizing performer on stage, yet also introverted and prone to mode swings. Enigmatic to the last, Ian Curtis died by his own hand on 18 May 1980.

Steve Roach and Robert Rich are two of the strongest e-musicians ever - musically, spiritually, and emotionally. But their greatest strengths are their abilities to express themselves musically and to interact cohesively. Rich and Roach approach music from almost completely divergent angles. Roach is always right in the middle of things, searching for answers to his questions. Rich, on the other hand, spends a great deal of time in the setup before diving into the middle. Once there, he begins searching for questions to his answers. Together, these approaches complement each other and they get right down to it…

Ian Boddy has been at the forefront of the UK electronic music scene since 1983 when he both performed at the very first UK Electronica Festival in Milton Keynes and released his first vinyl album "The Climb". Ian Boddy provides the listener with a rich atmosphere of original timbres and floating soundscapes. He is one of the few of his generation to have successfully integrated electronic music styles as diverse as seventies-style sequencer structures, melodic neo-classicism and the post-rave Modern Ambient style. Next to Boddy's impressive solo career stands his collaborative live performance and studio efforts with several of Electronic Music's most innovative and interesting personalities including: Ron Boots, Chris Carter, Andy Pickford, Robert Rich, Markus Reuter, Erik Wollo, David Wright and the ongoing project ARC with Mark Shreeve…

Two early albums by The Tubes - Young And Rich (1976) and Now (1977) - are being issued as a double CD set. It's a joy to hear these albums, which have been out of print for quite a while. This material is much more interesting than that huge hit, "She's A Beauty," the song the band is most known for. Nothing against "She's A Beauty," of course - I always dug that song - but it's more standard fare compared to the songs on these albums.

Ian Hunter - Man Overboard (2009)  Music

Ian Hunter sounded younger than his years on 2007's Shrunken Heads, but on its 2009 sequel, Man Overboard, he shows signs of age in his weathered rasp as well as the album's slower tempos and greater emphasis on ragged acoustic arrangement. Older doesn't necessarily mean any less vigorous, though, at least not in Hunter's case. He writes and sings like a man who thinks he might have seen it all but isn't quite sure, so he keeps going, turning out tunes that feel familiar in form but fresh in substance.

Living in the Highlands of Scotland presented problems in finding musicians to impress on him the techniques. Luckily, Inverness did have a music shop that sold a banjo, fingerpicks two books and most importantly, records by Earl Scruggs. His love of this music eventually led him to America where he spent a couple of years travelling around festivals, meeting and playing with the great bluegrass players and generally having a great time indulging in his love of Bluegrass music. Tugging at his soul however, was his profound love for his own traditional music.

With Tristan und Isolde La Scala opened its 07/08 new in a new production staged by Patrice Chéreau. In this collaboration Daniel Barenboim and Patrice Chéreau (of whom Daniel Barenboim said: "In Chereau, I found my ideal partner“) fulfil a Wagnerian dream they had been cherishing since 1980. The opera hadn’t been staged at La Scala for over 30 years and was a triumph with over 20 minutes of applause.
