The renowned Trio Hegel, violin, viola and cello, in this CD is offering to us an extract of the chamber music prevalent in the salons and the courts from the end of the eighteenth century up to the mid/late nineteenth century. The authors of these compositions - Cherubini and Cambini - were both of Tuscan origin, and both worked in Paris (in particular, Cherubini was director of the Conservatory from 1821) enjoying great fame. The string trios here are compositions rich in nuances and gallantry (according to the taste of the time), always very well made; they represent a summary of what was the typical Parisian hausmusik, bringing the listener to the enchanting of the Parisians atmospheres in the late nineteenth century.

Hegel, Marx, and the Necessity and Freedom Dialectic: Marxist-Humanism and Critical Theory in the United States

Hegel, Marx, and the Necessity and Freedom Dialectic: Marxist-Humanism and Critical Theory in the United States By Russell Rockwell
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 251 Pages | ISBN : 3319756109 | 3.19 MB

This book provides close readings of primary texts to analyze the linkage between G.W.F. Hegel’s philosophy and Karl Marx’s critical social theory of necessity and freedom. This is important for three reasons: first, to understand the significance of the changing relationships of work, society, and critical social theory in the origins of Hegelian-Marxism in the US, as documented in the recently published correspondence between the Marxist-Humanist theoretician Raya Dunayevskaya and the critical theorist Herbert Marcuse; second, to identify the intersections of the Critical Theorists Jurgen Habermas’ and Marcuse’s influential reinterpretations of Marx’s “value theory” of economy and society that enables navigation of the changing relationships of the social and economic spheres in the last century, as developed in Marx’s Grundrisse; and, thirdly, to assess the potential of Moishe Postone’s renewal of Marx’s value theory, largely conceived by the notion of a necessity and freedom dialectic intrinsic to capitalism.
Universal Biology after Aristotle, Kant, and Hegel: The Philosopher's Guide to Life in the Universe

Universal Biology after Aristotle, Kant, and Hegel: The Philosopher's Guide to Life in the Universe By Richard Dien Winfield
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 180 Pages | ISBN : 3319753576 | 2.9 MB

Here is a universal biology that draws upon the contributions of Aristotle, Kant, and Hegel to unravel the mystery of life and conceive what is essential to living things anywhere they may arise. The book develops a philosopher’s guide to life in the universe, conceiving how nature becomes a biosphere in which life can emerge, what are the basic life processes common to any organism, how evolution can give rise to the different possible forms of life, and what distinguishes the essential life forms from one another.

Hegel in the Arab World: Modernity, Colonialism, and Freedom By Lorella Ventura
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 161 Pages | ISBN : 3319780654 | 3.41 MB

Hegel's philosophy has been of fundamental importance for the development of contemporary thought and for the very representation of Western modernity. This book investigates Hegel’s influence in the Arab world, generally considered "other" and far from the West, focusing specifically on Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt. Lorella Ventura discusses the reception of Hegelian thought and outlines a conceptual grid to help interpret the historical, cultural, and political events that have affected the Arab region in the last two centuries, and shed light on some aspects of its complex relationship with the western world.
