The Danish trio (Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen, violin; Ale Carr, cittern; Nikolaj Busk, piano & accordion) returns with their second recording of cross-genre folk music. Guests include a folk choir and The Danish String Quartet. The artists say: "We met by chance one night during a folk festival in Copenhagen. Ale and Rune were standing in the corner of a pub jamming some folk tunes. Nikolaj just came in, sat at the piano and began to play along. The three of us ended up playing together all through the night. That was in 2009. Six months after we met, Rune held his debut concert at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.

This double-LP is a very good introduction to the cream of Irish-Folk, but, as in any compilation some groups are missing and others are of lower rank. This compilation is from the Transatlantic label, Folk specialist. With this selection I met with the best of Irish-Folk music, as Dubliners, The Johnstons, Sweeney's Men, Finbar & Eddie Furey, etc.

Music, and folk music in particular, is often embraced as a form of political expression, a vehicle for bridging or reinforcing social boundaries, and a valuable tool for movements reconfiguring the social landscape. Reds, Whites, and Blues examines the political force of folk music, not through the meaning of its lyrics, but through the concrete social activities that make up movements.
