Floh de Cologne were a German band, active from 1966 to 1983, regarded as a pioneer of krautrock (Floh is German for 'flea'). After success at the beginning of the 70s, the band separated in 1983.The group was formed in 1966 by a group of anarchist students, all from the University of Cologne. Their first album, Vietnam, released in 1968, is a fierce criticism of the war in Vietnam. Impressed by their music and especially their lyrics, Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser decided to produce their next two albums: Rockoper Profitgeier (1971) and Lucky Streik (1972).

PROF. WOLFFF, a german band from Ulm, started in the early 70's and unfortunately produced only one album. Remarkable is the use of lyrics in german similar to FLOH DE COLOGNE. Despite that the band never had a political approach the lyrics are provoking a lot though trying to digest the rebellious times in which they lived. This is combined with the typical mix of blues, folk and psychedelia which can be also defined as krautrock. As a result, other musicians must have been inspired for sure to compose rock songs using the native german language. The band was busy with gigs all over Germany and also had a TV appearance.

The World Of Krautrock Vol.1 (1997). Once upon a time, all fairy tales start. And gave the recollections of the time as it still Kreidler motorbikes and wild music also 'Krautrock' called. The artists on the CD are represented, also at that time for good tones there provided Birth Control from Berlin and Guru Guru from the Heidelberg area. They have become legends for us at least. On the CD are found beside the already mentioned groups also Witthüser & Westrup with wonderful ballads..

For me the most underrated and unknown LP since years. "Break the power of the monopolies": propaganda against capitalism, imperialism and fascism, for socialism, communism and the peace movement, served with folk rock and acid kraut on the Pläne label. Of course the German lyrics are the other half of the game, often not sung but spoken. If you fancy Lokomotive Kreuzberg, Floh de Cologne or 3 Tornados, don't miss it.

I got this rip on CD from a neighbor, I don't know how it was produced, and I don't have Flac files or scans. This is a neglected milestone in German rock history. The band called this effort Polit-Rock-Kabarett and it's rather a stage show with rock music. If you think of Bert Brecht's 3 Penny Opera you get the idea, although this show didn't have a similar impact at all.

An inventive Berlin polit-rock band, who were launched onto the scene in early 1972 with enthusiastic help from Floh De Cologne, to whom Lokomotive Kreuzberg were comparable in many ways. Amazingly creative, even on their debut, Lokomotive Kreuzberg blended hard-rock and blues together with more progressive sounds, with socio-political lyric and elements of satirical theatre. …
