This CD is apparently taken from a concert that was part of the Bedrock series made by Central Music in the late 1980s, a series which also includes Asia, Rick Wakeman, Gong, Hawkwind and Uriah Heep. Personally I have no recollection of this series but the television broadcasts were a great success (it says here). It features the classic Caravan line-up of Pye Hastings, Richard and David Sinclair, Richard Coughlan with the ever reliable Jimmy Hastings on flute.

Caravan's "Live in Nottingham" DVD is yet another concert document by the Canterbury-spawned band, from a 1990 show at Central Studios in Nottingham. Originally released as part of the |Bedrock series, it features the lineup of Pye Hastings (guitar, vocals), Richard Coughlan (drums), Dave Sinclair (keyboards), Jimmy Hastings (sax, flute), and Richard Sinclair (bass, vocals) in five pieces, including the epic-length "Nine Feet Underground." Their performance is laid-back and smooth, with some gorgeous sax work by Jimmy Hastings and excellent playing all around.

Caravan, the legendary Canterbury band, re-formed specially for this London studio concert in late 2010 and the audience were rewarded with a review from Classic Rock which quoted "a new era dawns for the veteran band".

Documented during an era in which U.K. performances by Caravan were few and far between, Live at the Fairfield Halls 1974 is a brilliantly remastered and likewise complete presentation of a concert held just prior to their inaugural tour of North America. Although Caravan had been subjected to several key personnel and managerial alterations in the preceding months, once they hit the stage they shed any behind-the-scenes acrimony and were transformed into a stunning synergy of progressive and symphonic rock. This warm-up show took place on September 1, 1974, at Fairfield Hall in Croydon and was initially documented as a possible promotional tool for their upcoming stateside appearances…

Since their 1999 debut concert, Come Shine and their unconventional versions of standard jazz tunes have been a favorite to a wide range of Norwegian music lovers. They released three best-selling jazz albums during their first four years- including one album with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra live at Kongsberg Jazz Festival 2003. The quartet took an indefinite break in 2004. After their reunion eight years later, the Come Shine sound had become darker, groovier and influenced by several other genres than jazz. The music on this symphonic album is the result of three sources combined: some of last centurys most talented song writers, Come Shines many years of cultivating their band, and piano player Erlend Skromsovolls unique arranger skills. Known to Norwegians as KORK, this orchestra is cherished throughout the country.

The Vintage Caravan are a young band hailing from the Greater Reykjavik area. The Band was originally founded around 2006 when the band members were very young. However, it did not become a serious project until 2009. The Vintage Caravan are known for their energetic stage performance and have been very active live for the past few years. Since 2011 the band has released two LPs with the latter being released by one of the largest record labels in Iceland, Sena which they made a deal with in early 2012. That same year bassist Alex Örn joined the group. Musical influences are very diverse but mainly include the classic hard rock of the 60's and 70's. Though the influence may suggest a glorified retro-type band, The Vintage Caravan do it in their own way with a powerful attitude and a modern twist…

While this two-CD, nearly two-and-a-half-hour collection doesn't include all of Caravan's BBC recordings, it's indisputably the finest collection of the band's radio performances yet assembled. It doesn't quite include all of the BBC tracks that have appeared on previous releases; a couple songs from their first 1968 session are missing, as are most of the cuts from the Ether Way: BBC Sessions 1975-77 compilation. This is more than compensated for, however, by the inclusion of a half-hour August 2, 1973 session that appears for the first time anywhere on this anthology, as well as the much-improved fidelity on some material first issued as part of the Green Bottles for Marjorie: The Lost BBC Sessions set.
