The Plague Within is the 14th studio album by the British doom metal band Paradise Lost. Like all great bands, Paradise Lost have always carved their own path and been at the forefront of the metal movement. Their 1990 debut offering Lost Paradise changed the climate of the scene. Combining the crushingly heavy riffs of Black Sabbath and Trouble with insanely inhuman growls have inspired countless bands over the years. Back with their fourteenth studio release, The Plague Within finds the band rediscovering their early heavy roots. Paradise Lost guitarist Greg Mackintosh has described 14th release The Plague Within as a “marmite album.”
Indestructible is House Of Lords' 10th studio album, following up the critically acclaimed Precious Metal. This brand new release, recorded and produced by the band's singer and mastermind James Christian, again has a stellar sound, with solid and baroque songwriting mixed with unique melodic sensibilities and amazing musical skills. Musically, Indestructible shows a return to the roots of the band's sound…
The Minstrel's Ghost is the 2012 sensation, a fabulous musical creation that has all the hallmarks of a classic prog album, where old school symphonics meet the new pristine university. American multi-instrumentalist Blake Carpenter has smartly surrounded himself with some seriously gifted players most notably Hungarian Zoltan Csorsz (still the best Flower Kings drummer ever), who positively explodes here, as well as gifted guitarist Colin Tench (of the thrilling Corvus Stone, Colin Tench Project and Bunchakeze). Others include Marco Chiappini of Gandalf's Project (a close relative in this semi-medieval-pop-prog genre) who shines on devastating organ and assorted ivories. .Bassist Troy James Martin holds it all down with muscular proficiency .And of course main man and master musician Blake Carpenter, who has really carved himself a name for himself with this magnificent opus!
Flesh + Blood suggested that Roxy Music were at the end of the line, but they regrouped and recorded the lovely Avalon, one of their finest albums. Certainly, the lush, elegant soundscapes of Avalon are far removed from the edgy avant-pop of their early records, yet it represents another landmark in their career…
The Land of New Hope is the first full-length album by Timo Tolkki's metal opera project Avalon. The album was released on May 17, 2013 in Europe and May 21, 2013 in the US. According to Tolkki "I sort of rediscovered myself musically in the process of making this album. I wrote the story first and started composing the music after that. My aim was to write memorable songs with good melodies that would support the story…On this album you will find a lot of different dynamics…with some songs that are fully orchestrated and sound very very big."
"Avalon", released in 1982, was Roxy Music's eighth studio album.
In 1989, the album was ranked #31 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "The 100 Greatest Albums of the 1980s". In 2003, the album was ranked number 307 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. "Avalon" is the highest entry of four Roxy Music albums that made the list ("Siren", "For Your Pleasure" and "Country Life" being the others).
