Take Camel's sound, then reburbish it with a harsh attitude in the guitar riffs and solos, and while you're at it, enrich its melodic sensibility with Asian flavours (mostly on flute), and don't forget to add an eerie ambience a-la Pulsar and a great amount of incredibly tight drumming: the result of this set of operations is the debut album by Asia Minor, a solid symphonic ensemble formed by Turksih musicians resident in France. Though I must admit that I prefer their following album, it's also fair to state that 'Crossing the Line' is a real classic of late 70s prog.

Maybe one of the best in '80s. The second Asia Minor album shows a very consistent band (musicians from Turkey and France) approaching to Camel style, but adding deeper and darker intimate atmospheres, remaining some moments of Pink Floyd or the French band Pulsar. The listener will enjoy every second of magnificent melodies, great instrumental sections and a very good vocalist (he sings in English). One of those albums where all tracks are highlights. Excellent! ~Progarchives

Perhaps no other region of the world has played so many different roles in culture, religion, and politics, for so long a period of time, as the peninsula of Asian Turkey, known to the Greeks as Anatolia and to the Romans as Asia Minor. Though today we call it Turkey, that name dates back only to the Middle Ages.

This is one of trumpeter Dizzy Reece's finest recordings, a well-planned sextet date (reissued on CD) with baritonist Cecil Payne, Joe Farrell on tenor and flute, pianist Hank Jones, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Charlie Persip that is on the level of a Blue Note album. Reece (who contributed three diverse originals) performs mostly minor-toned songs that seem to really inspire the musicians. The solos tend to be concise but quite meaningful, and, overall, this hard bop but occasionally surprising session is quite memorable. Strange that Reece would not get another opportunity to lead a record date until 1970.

Apostolos Kaldaras (in greek: Απόστολος Καλδάρας) was a famous greek composer with hundreds of beautiful popular songs. This limited edition CD from the "2LP-in-1CD" collection, combines two great LP of Kaldaras from 1972 and 1973, that are considered as small masterpieces of the greek musical history. The music is superb and in both albums you will have the opportunity to hear two of the best and most popular singers in Greece today, Giorgos Dalaras (Γιώργος Νταλάρας) and Haris Alexiou (Χάρις Αλεξίου), in their first steps. Enjoy a unique and rare CD.
