Nova Scotia-born Anne Murray built her musical influences from the pop sounds that her parents listened to (Rosemary Clooney, Perry Como) and the Top 40 sounds that AM New York radio stations piped into Canada (Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Brenda Lee). Originally she intended to work as a physical education instructor, but she continued to pursue an interest in music. After she was turned down for a spot on a national TV show called Singalong Jubilee, she received a call from the show's producer two years later. He offered her a chance to make records, and when she agreed, she found herself with a million-selling crossover single in 1970

This album contains some of Anne Murray's finest songs. Songs like "Snowbird" and "Danny's Song" sound as wonderful now as they did in the 1970's. Anne has the talent of selecting emotive songs whose messages do not date. "A Little Good News" may refer to conflicts of the past but that does not remove any of its relevance to the state of the news, and the world, today. When you listen to the song Anne really conveys a desire to hear good news for once - she sings her songs with conviction.

Anne Murray's time with Capitol Records was running out when she recorded "Croonin." Her singles were no long charting and her album sales had dropped off significantly. The public was no longer buying the pop-rock-country formula that had served her so well for twenty-five years. What to do? Record an album of American standards. Why not? "Old Cape Cod," "Secret Love," Hey There," "The Wayward Wind" "Teach Me Tonight" – these were the tunes she listened to on the radio while growing up in Nova Scotia. They fit her middle-register voice like a glove. They were in her DNA. In a way, "Croonin" is the answer to "Where Do You Go When You Dream" (the title of an earlier an album). You sing the songs you truly love. And sings them she does, with all the dignity, sincerity, polish, and professionalism that distinguished her long career. Anne Murray was always a class act.

Anne Murray's Greatest Hits is a compilation album by Canadian Country vocalist Anne Murray, issued by Capitol Records in 1980. It is a collection of nine previously issued singles released between 1970 and 1980, as well as one new track, "Could I Have This Dance", which was newly recorded for this album (and simultaneously appeared on the soundtrack to the film Urban Cowboy). Though Murray's fourth compilation album, Greatest Hits was the first collection of her biggest charting singles, from her breakthrough Top 10 smash, "Snowbird", through 1980. (Previous compilations had included some of Murray's chart hits along with album tracks and lesser known songs.) It peaked at #16 on the Billboard album chart, hit #2 (where it held for nine weeks) on the Top Country Albums chart, and is certified 4× Multi-Platinum by the RIAA in the United States - Anne's biggest selling career disc.

A full 20 hits from that impossibly warm voice that lit up both the pop and country charts in the '70s and '80s. Hits include Snowbird; You Needed Me; Danny's Song; You Won't See Me; Daydream Believer; Love Song; Broken Hearted Me , and more. Not exactly a country artist, since her records lack twang, and too casual and intimate to make for a standard-issue MOR pop performer, Anne Murray's phenomenally warm, smooth voice has nevertheless secured a lofty place for her in both categories and has occasionally brought her into the mainstream (read: traditionally rock and soul dominated) pop arena. If you're not a fan, or much of a country enthusiast, it's her '70s pop hits that'll make the package worthwhile. "Snowbird" is here, as is "You Needed Me."

Canadian songbird Anne Murray has always had success with her gentle, traditional approach to Christmas and holiday music, and "What a Wonderful Christmas" is no exception. The majority of the songs on this two-CD set are faithful Christmas chestnuts ("Joy to the World," "Away in a Manger," "O Holy Night," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"), with a few lesser-known, non-traditional numbers ("This Season Will Never Grow Old," "Christmas Wishes," "Sweet Little Jesus Boy"). All of the songs are delivered in a warm acoustic setting, with a handful featuring tasteful string and brass sections and a small backing choir. Anne Murray's music always seems most appropriate in the winter, and a collection of holiday songs fits that bill nicely.

Canadian country singer Anne Murray was born in Nova Scotia in 1945. She was the first Canadian solo singer to reach No.1 in the US charts for her single "Snowbird" and has album sales of over 50 million to her credit. Her 1984 album A Little Good News won the Country Music Associations Album of the Year and in 1993 she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. "All Of Me" is a re-release of Anne Murray’s album from October 2004 called ‘I'll Be Seeing You’ with a second disc of Anne Murray's greatest hits added. The 1st disc finds Murray in excellent form; a smooth collection of standards complete with well-arranged orchestrations that complement her already nearly pitch-perfect voice. The 2nd disc includes some of Murray's finest moments including "Snowbird," "Danny's Song" and "You Needed Me."
