This recording seems to be to a large degree to be an intense dialogue between tenor sax Melissa Aldana and the drummer-Ross Pederson. There are exceptions like in Elemmeno and Polyphemus where Gordon Au's trumpet enters in the conversation. Some of the songs are recorded as a trio and others as quartet, this a recording without a pianist. The first time I listened to the CD, I considered the music to be intriguing, a new sound that I was definitely not used to. Then, the second time I started to enjoy it. The recording shows that for long time jazz fans, there is always a new musician ready to expand jazz horizons.
