Well, no one can ever accuse Jonas Hellborg of selling out. It takes a gutsy man (with his own label) to release an entire album of solo pieces for the acoustic bass guitar, but if anyone were going to do it, it would be Hellborg. Despite its obvious sonic limitations, this is a very fine album. There are few bass guitarists who can make chords sound good on that instrument, and most of those who can probably learned how to do it from Hellborg.

Hailing from the Aschaffenburg region in Germany My Sleeping Karma started in 2005 as a side-project of the stoner rock band 'The Great Escape'. In March 2006 they began with recordings for their eponymous debut and when 'The Great Escape' disbanded in September they could fully concentrate on the new project. It was the end of the year when the band finally offered the self-released album which holds a blend of psychedelic, space, stoner and post rock.
For the next album the band members still tried to take more attention for detail. They released 'Satya' in in 2008 provided with some Buddhistic references, samples and some vocals - hypnotic, trippy spacey as well as explosive here and there.

While Impermanence is Peter Silberman’s first solo album, it could easily be thought of as a continuation of the emotional-spiritual odyssey begun through his work in The Antlers over the past decade. It travels some of the thornier terrain of the trio’s previous albums Hospice, Burst Apart, and Familiars, while carrying the conversation further down the path. What distinguishes Impermanence from its forebears can be attributed to an unexpected injury, as Silberman developed a hearing impairment in his left ear that resulted in a temporarily total hearing loss, extraordinarily loud tinnitus, and an excruciating sensitivity to everyday noises. “Writing Impermanence became my effort to meditate on what had happened, and grasp what it had taught me: about my mortality, compassion, and change. There’s no remedy for the unpredictable, and I want this record to reflect that, to offer an alternative way to think about changing circumstances.”
