This is Yana Bibb’s second album. “Afternoon in Paris” (a composition by the late, great John Lewis, pianist of The Modern Jazz Quartet who is also Yana’s great uncle) is produced by Swedish blues guitar player Staffan Astner. The album promises the right mix of groovy blues and soulful jazz (with a touch of Swedish folk melody) and shows her musical range, influence and depth.

A superb singer, with a very peculiar feeling for melodic performances. Yana Purim is reaching new heights in her special ability to create irresistible samples of jazzy Brazilian music and Braziliany jazz. With this new album, “Harvest Time”, Yana ceases to be a promising talent to become definitely recognized as a mature artist, one of the most expressive talents that emerged from the contemporary Brazilian musical scene.

Eric Bibb is one of the most respected blues singer/songwriters of our time. His music is always reverent, keeping one foot in the blues and folk storytelling traditions. “Whether you’re looking at a former sharecropper, hitchhiking from Clarksdale to Chicago in 1923, or an orphan from Aleppo, in a boat full of refugees in 2016 – it’s migration blues,” Eric says about his new release, Migration Blues. Mainly composed of new tunes, Migration Blues also includes covers of Bob Dylan’s “Masters of War” and Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land.” An arrangement of the traditional “Mornin’ Train,” closes the opus. Eric Bibb’s career spans five decades, 37 albums, countless radio & TV shows and non-stop tours, making him one of the leading bluesmen of his generation.

One of the most enduring and endleass charms of the music of Brazil is the depth of its variety, by way of influences absorbed over many years. The amalgam of sounds is often a combination of primitive and contemporary, and it is worth mentioning that Brazilians can and still write some of today's most romantic songs. There is a richness in their music which indicates their optimistic view of life and honest dealing with human emotions, which is not only accurate, but admirable.

From 1980 comes this lovely prog inspired album from Pierpaolo Bibbo. "Diapason" was a very good and unique symphonic album during a period that was considered less than stellar among most progressive rock fans. It was recorded during 1979 and released on La Strega Records in 1980. Bibbo composed everything and co-produced the album with Marcello Mazzella. He played guitars and bass, handled vocals, and played synths showing a high level of all-around competence. Other musicians provided additional keyboards, drums, violin, and flute giving the album a reasonable "band" feel. Like other symphonic releases of this period "Diapason" doesn't outwardly break a lot of new ground but Bibbo's unique talents and interesting approach give this work a fresh feel…
