Rhythm, Play and Interaction Design

Rhythm, Play and Interaction Design By Brigid M. Costello
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 191 Pages | ISBN : 3319678485 | 4.67 MB

There are rhythms of action and response to all human-computer interactions. As we click, swipe, tap and sway to their beats, these rhythms intersect with the rhythms of our everyday lives. Perhaps they synchronize, perhaps they disrupt each other or maybe they dance together. Whatever their impact our experience of these rhythms will colour our experience of an interaction design. In playful interactive applications, rhythm is especially crucial because of the role it performs in building and maintaining the precarious spirit of play. Play involves movement and this movement has a rhythm that drives the experience. But what is the character of these rhythms of play and how can they be used in the design of interactive applications? These questions are the focus of this book.

Sequences, Groups, and Number Theory

Sequences, Groups, and Number Theory By Valérie Berthé
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 591 Pages | ISBN : 3319691511 | 25.5 MB

This collaborative book presents recent trends on the study of sequences, including combinatorics on words and symbolic dynamics, and new interdisciplinary links to group theory and number theory. Other chapters branch out from those areas into subfields of theoretical computer science, such as complexity theory and theory of automata. The book is built around four general themes: number theory and sequences, word combinatorics, normal numbers, and group theory. Those topics are rounded out by investigations into automatic and regular sequences, tilings and theory of computation, discrete dynamical systems, ergodic theory, numeration systems, automaton semigroups, and amenable groups.

Europe and Iran’s Nuclear Crisis: Lead Groups and EU Foreign Policy-Making  eBooks & eLearning

Europe and Iran’s Nuclear Crisis: Lead Groups and EU Foreign Policy-Making

Europe and Iran’s Nuclear Crisis: Lead Groups and EU Foreign Policy-Making By Riccardo Alcaro
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 296 Pages | ISBN : 3319742973 | 3.83 MB

This book investigates the European involvement in managing the nuclear dispute with Iran, shedding new light on EU foreign policy-making. The author focuses on the peculiar format through which the EU managed Iran’s nuclear issue: a ‘lead group’ consisting of France, Germany and the UK and the High Representative for EU foreign policy (E3/EU). The experience of the E3/EU lends credibility to the claim that lead groups give EU foreign policy direction and substance. The E3/EU set up a negotiating framework that worked as a de-escalating tool, a catalyst for Security Council unity and a forum for crisis management. They inflicted pain on Iran by adopting a comprehensive sanctions regime, but did so only having secured US commitment to a diplomatic solution. Once the deal was reached, they defended it vigorously. The E3/EU may have been supporting actors, but their achievements were real.
