Blondes Have More Fun is Rod Stewart's ninth album, released in November 1978. As was the popular musical trend at the time, it is Stewart's foray into disco music, which although commercially successful, was critically panned. The lead single "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" became one of Stewart's biggest hits, peaking at No.1 in both the UK and US. The album has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. The album itself peaked at No.3 in the UK, being certified platinum by Christmas and was a No.1 hit in the US, where it went double platinum. It also charted within the top ten in a host of other countries.

While the The Definitive Collection 1969-1978 won't add anything to the discussion and contains fewer cuts than its predecessors, it is a more tightly focused set than any other single-disc comp, including Millennium Edition, because it only contains hit singles, B-sides, and well-known album tracks no filler for more casual or budget-minded fans. And yes, there are some who would argue that Stewart never released weak music while he was with Mercury, but frankly, they'd be wrong the Smiler album being a case in point. From 1969's The Rod Stewart Album to 1978's Blondes Have More Fun, this collection meshes the raspy-voiced solo artist's biggest Warner Brothers hits with the best of his Mercury years includes Maggie May Handbags and Gladrags, Country Comforts, Mandolin Wind, You Wear It Well, Angel, Rod's take on the Sam Cooke classic Twistin' the Night Away, Tonight's the Night, Da Ya Think I'm Sexy, and more.

The Story So Far: The Very Best of Rod Stewart is a 2001 Rod Stewart career-retrospective compilation album, which summarizes his solo work beginning with material from his 1971 breakthrough album Every Picture Tells a Story until his 2001 album Human. For contractual reasons, only two songs from his Mercury Records tenure ("Maggie May" and "You Wear It Well") were included (a third song from the Mercury era, "Reason to Believe", was included in a live acoustic version from the Warner Bros. album Unplugged…and Seated). The rest of the material is from different albums released under Warner Bros. Records…

Another Country is the twenty-ninth studio album by British singer-songwriter Rod Stewart. It was released on 23 October 2015 through Capitol Records. It was produced by Stewart and Kevin Savigar. Stewart released his twenty-eighth studio album, Time, in 2013. The album contained eleven songs written or co-written by Stewart. Commenting on Time, Stewart stated, "I've found that the only way to write songs is to be as personal and honest as possible, And when my last album was so well-received it gave me the confidence to keep on writing, and to examine and write about different things. It also gave me the freedom to experiment with different sounds like reggae, ska and Celtic melodies."

Mercury/Polygram began recycling their Rod Stewart recordings almost immediately after he left the label for Warner. Rebound's The Ballad Album and its companion, The Rock Album, are simply '90s versions of such compilations as Sing It Again Rod. And, like that record, it's enjoyable despite its haphazard collection simply because Stewart's Mercury records were so good. There are a couple of odd choices here – his take of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Man)" is strangely misguided – but for the most part, the collection is quite enjoyable, thanks to such masterpieces as "Reason to Believe," "Mandolin Wind," "Angel," "Girl from the North Country," "Handbags and Gladrags," "Country Comforts"…

When We Were the New Boys finds Rod Stewart tackling the music of his Brit-pop offspring and coming to terms with his pub rock roots. It's a bit of a risky move, since he could have embarrassed himself with stodgy singing but, surprisingly, he (more or less) pulls it off. Granted, he's not nearly as energetic as he once was, and he stumbles on occasion, but he recasts Oasis' "Cigarettes and Alcohol," Primal Scream's "Rocks," and Graham Parker's "Hotel Chambermaid" as comfortable rockers in the vein of "Hot Legs." They're not as vibrant as the Gallaghers' rolling thunder or Bobby Gillespie's ironic classicism, but they're easily the best rockers…

Whilst in The Faces, Rod Stewart pursued a solo career, which paid dividends in 1971 when he was propelled to the top of the UK charts with Maggie May and later You Wear It Well, both are included here. Enjoy!
