Reminiscing back to the early to mid '60s we find several outstanding albums by Percy Faith ~ two of which have found their place on this double album CD ~ "More themes For Young Lovers/Latin Themes For Young Lovers" all with the "Percy Faith Touch" we have grown to love over the years. If it's strings you crave and a few of today's top hits in a lush instrumental version then this is the place. -Amazon-
With the exception of the title cut on the first album, Those Were The Days (which is given a rather stodgy treatment), this CD is vintage Percy Faith. The second LP, Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet, came out in 1969, when Faith's new sound of orchestra with female chorus had just hit its stride. The trademark harpsichord is there, too. I had this album on LP when I was eight years old, and am pleased to discover that it is absolutely delightful all these years later. The two tunes from Hair are highlights of the album, brimming with energy and delicacy at the same time. Faith also commemorates the tenth anniversary of his big instrumental hit, Theme from A Summer Place, by writing a new version with female chorus. It doesn't displace memories of the original, but it is a welcome piece on this album. If you like your '60's music in a form that is evergreen, this Percy Faith CD is for you.
There's a little bit of everything in the two albums "Corazon" and "My Love" ~ what I mean is old ballads, latin melodies and lush arrangements that will keep your record collection alive today and many years to come. Many of these selections are treasures not to be found anywhere else, but in the realm of the "Percy Faith Touch", and all of the Faith fans know what I'm talking about. -Amazon-
Shangri-la is one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. This album rates up there with American Seranade which I hope Collectibles will reissiue.Shangri la features songs from Asia and the Orient. All songs are just with the orchestra although on a few of them the womens wordless chrous is evident especially on Shangri-la.All songs on this album are very lush.I don't care about Music of Brazil although it has some good songs on it,because I have the imported cd Viva/Music of Brazil from the Uk.If you don't have viva. I also recomend this title. It has music of mexico.Liner notes for both Shangri la and The Music of Brazil are included here.Once again just as with the other Percy Faith reissues collectibles released, most of these songs by Faith are on cd for the first time.No arranger could conduct music like Percy Faith with the exception of Mantovani who I also have on a lot of cds.If you like beautiful music this cd should be in your collection. These albums by maestro Faith are very different and sound great on cd.Held Over is just instrumental and Leaving On A Jet Plane is all Vocal with Faith's mixed chrous.Faith used a light string contingment on Held Over and even lighter on Leaving On A Jet Plane. These albums are even more unique for another reason. They contain very different versions of the same songs.
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head is instrumental on Held Over and done vocalley on Leaving On A Jet Plane.Easy Rider is instrumental on Raindrops but vocal on Leaving. Also Faith's version of Leaving On A Jet Plane is beautiful and got a lot of play on beautiful music stations in the 70's.I highley recommend this CD .- Amazon -
Icy strings swoop and sway in an ocean wave of sound on Percy Faith's Bouquet, one of this talented conductor/arranger's most popular albums. Piano chords swell and xylophones delicately plink in the distance, but Faith's arrangements are really all about the massed strings: the melodies, the counter-melodies, the gorgeous undulation of violins (32 of them!). If you have a good stereo system, find a CD or clean vinyl copy of Bouquet and turn up the volume – immerse yourself in the glorious flux and reflux of pure sound. This is one of the most beautiful and distinctive mood music albums ever made, and if hearing it does not give you a new appreciation for the genre, then there is no hope for you. Highly recommended.
One of several two-fer reissues of Percy Faith's classic Columbia LPs on the Collectables reissue label, TARA'S THEME/JEALOUSY combines two of the Toronto-born orchestra leader/arranger/producer's best-selling albums on one disc. Tara's Theme from Gone with the Wind Jealousy CD music TARA'S THEME, from 1961, is most notable for containing the original version of Faith's signature song, the gently swaying, instantly recognizable "Theme From A Summer Place," his biggest hit. Tara's Theme from Gone with the Wind Jealousy music CDs The rest of the album, which is primarily composed of movie themes, is equally remarkable. Tara's Theme from Gone with the Wind Jealousy songs JEALOUSY is a darker and more brooding affair, featuring stately but dramatic renditions of a dozen classic love songs. Tara's Theme from Gone with the Wind Jealousy album .
If you've ever listened to the music of Percy Faith, then this is a must for you.Following the formula of previous Columbia Record releases ~ they've come up with two more winners for Percy Faith "Today's Themes For Young Lovers" and "For Those In Love", featuring the classic style of sweeping strings that can only spell "Percy Faith" and a haunting of singers.
Another perfect reissiue by collectibles music,This album contains themes from movies. Most of these songs have been unavailable by Faith since Lps went out. This album contains such songs as somewhere my love, this hotel,And we were lovers,This is my song,Alfie,How are things in Glacca Morra and many more .
During the late '60s and early '70s Maestro Percy Faith was churning out some of the best releases with top notch arrangements ~ thus enters the album at hand "Angel of the Morning/Black Magic Woman", featuring Faith's Orchestra and Chorus. Each song had an upbeat tone to it, with "DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO SAN JOSE?" and the beautiful ballad "THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU", both tunes from the composing team of Hal David and Burt Bacharach
