Pat Martino’s guitar masterpiece. Martino’s long, seamless lines are absolutely extraordinary. Most importantly, he knew how to make the music swing! This is truly one of the most essential jazz guitar albums of all time. Martino’s lines, phrasing and even tone are so unique to the language of jazz that one is left absolutely speechless – some listening experiences defy the parameters of existing vocabulary. MFSL’s GAIN 2 remastering is a serious sonic enhancement of this magnificent album. Track highlights include Martino’s amazing solo on the Coltrane composition “Lazy Bird” and the essential jazz standard “Close Your Eyes.” Not to be missed!

This album was unusual on several counts. For starters, it was a soundtrack (for Sam Peckinpah's movie of the same title), a first venture of its kind for Bob Dylan. For another, it was Dylan's first new LP in three years – he hadn't been heard from in any form other than the single "George Jackson," his appearance at the Bangladesh benefit concert in 1971, in all of that time…

Pat Benatar was certainly one of the best arena rockers of the early '80s. Not only did she sell albums, but she made records that sounded great on the radio "Heartbreaker," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," "Shadows of the Night," "I Need a Lover," "Love Is a Battlefield," "We Belong," "Invincible," "Sex as a Weapon," even the latter-day "All Fired Up" enough hits for a really good hits collection, which she has several of in her catalog; however, not enough for a three-disc box set, which is what Synchronistic Wanderings is. That's not to say that all Benatar had to offer were hit singles, since she did have some good album tracks, or that she shouldn't have a collection of rarities and unreleased material, since some of the demos, live tracks, and unreleased cuts aren't bad, and certainly of interest to fans.

This live American concert in 1992 emerged on cd at about the same time as the Geffen release "The road to you" which was culled from PMG's european concerts in the early 90's. While this current selection may not quite equal that release in the quality of the sound, it is a much better live performance overall. There are a couple of small blips in the performance but this is live and taken from one concert. Raw Metheny but edge of your seat performance.

In the years immediately prior to the British Invasion, only one performer rivaled the chart dominance of Elvis Presley, and that was Pat Boone. With his trademark white buck shoes, perfectly combed hair and gleaming smile, Boone was the very essence of wholesome American values, and at a time when the rise of rock & roll was viewed as a sign of the apocalypse, he made the music appear safe and non-threatening, earning some 38 Top 40 hits in the process. It's fitting that his achievements rank closest to those of Presley; after all, both claimed the sound of black R&B culture for their own, in the process straddling both sides of the color line and popularizing a form of music which otherwise might never have gained widespread acceptance.
