Rewired is the sixth studio album by Mike + The Mechanics, released in 2004. This was the first album released by the band following the death of the co-lead singer Paul Young. Partly because of this, the album was credited to "Mike + The Mechanics + Paul Carrack". It is the only Mike + The Mechanics album to date with only one lead vocalist. The album was released in the UK as a standalone single CD and as a limited edition CD/DVD combo. The limited edition 2-disc set comprises the 9-track CD album plus a 10-track bonus PAL formatted DVD. The DVD includes 10 videos in total (a video for each track plus an extra single version video for 'One Left Standing' entitled 'Rabbit'). Each video has been created by new and talented film makers from around the world and includes animation and live action movies.
Mike + The Mechanics was formed in the mid-80's by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford while Phil Collins was pursuing his (very) successful solo career. Joined by ex-Squeeze member Paul Carrack, Paul Young, Adrian Lee, and Peter Van Hooke, the band released 5 albums over the course of a ten-year span from 1985-1995. Filmed September 7, 2004 at Shepherd's Bush in London, Mike + The Mechanics take the stage with a mix of new recordings from their 2004 effort "Rewired" along with many of their classics from their original 1985-95 run, including the chart topper "The Living Years" and the top 10 hits "Silent Running" and "All I Need Is A Miracle". The lineup for this incarnation of the Mechanics is: Mike Rutherford, Paul Carrack, Peter Van Hooke, Gary Wallis, Jamie Moses, Rupert Cobb, Abbie Osmon, and Paul McGee.
"Over My Shoulder" is a pop rock song by Mike + The Mechanics. It was released in February 1995 as the first single from their album Beggar on a Beach of Gold. Sung by Paul Carrack, it was the most successful single from that album, peaking at No.12 on UK Singles Chart. Although it failed to crack the UK Top 10, the song became perhaps the band's biggest radio hit.
