Thrash Metal

Following Cliff Burton's death, Metallica took some time off and initiated new bassist Jason Newsted with a raw, unpolished EP of covers originally recorded by Diamond Head, Holocaust, Killing Joke, Budgie, and the Misfits. Most fit the band's style quite well; only "Last Caress" sounds out of place, as the original seemed looser and more dangerous…

George Duke was an American musician, known as a keyboard pioneer, composer, singer and producer in both jazz and popular mainstream musical genres. He worked with numerous artists as arranger, music director, writer and co-writer, record producer and as a professor of music. He first made a name for himself with the album The Jean-Luc Ponty Experience with the George Duke Trio. He was known primarily for thirty-odd solo albums, of which 'A Brazilian Love Affair' from 1980 was his most popular, as well as for his collaborations with other musicians, particularly Frank Zappa.

Genre: neo-classical, thrash metal, speed metal, heavy metal, classical metal

A Metallica album with no members of Metallica? How about a Metallica tribute album with nothing but cellos? That is what Apocalyptica did in 1996 when they released Apocalyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos. No rendition of songs from Metallica's first album, but it does have one from Ride The Lightning, "Creeping Death". Mercury turned these thrash metal dreams into classical reality.

Originally released in 1980, this is a Remasters Workshop edition of a "Brazilian" bootleg called Recovered Tracks, featuring songs done for television shows, radio programmes, etc. Remasters Workshop were able to gather better, if not superior, versions for this edition to make this listen exceptional. "Hey Bulldog" has been removed from the original, due to realization that the mix used was just one channel from the original.

Everything Was Right: The Beatles' Revolver is taken from a radio show exploring the 1966 album Revolver. The show was broadcast on PRI and heard on stations who carry the program done by host Paul Ingles. This is taken from a 2CD set by Remasters Workshop and also features radio spots for the show, as found on the original radio CD's. If you would like to find out the contents of this radio show, do a Google search as I am sure there are websites that can help you. I have a small handful of other radio show discs, some originals, some not, and hope to share them in the near future.
