Along with Iggy Pop, Lou Reed has been one of the most outrageous artists of the 70s; an ambassador of the underground world that lives within each cosmopolitan city and always living life to the limit. With a remarkable literary talent and always pushing the limits sound wise, Lou became one of the most iconic artists ever, both as leader of The Velvet Underground and as a solo artist. The Many Faces Of Lou Reed is a journey through his side projects, little-known collaborations with artists such as bass player Fernando Saunders or legendary soul keyboardist Booker T.Jones; his live shows along the Velvet Underground and the Rock And Roll Heart tour (one of their most inspired). It is also a walk thru his immortal body of work, in the hands of artists who recognize him as their main influence. The Many Faces Of Lou Reed is a fundamental album for every rock music fan, a fantastic journey through unknown works, presented with extended liner notes, a luxurious cover art and remastered sound. Also…remember that it's not available on streaming platforms.

Never let it be said that Lou Reed has lost the ability to surprise his audience; who would have thought that at the age of 58, on his first album of the new millennium, Reed would offer us an 18-minute guitar distortion workout with lyrics abut kinky sex, dangerous drugs, and (here's the surprise) imagining what it would be like to be a possum?

Lou Reed was touring in support of Rock and Roll Heart, when he rolled into L.A.'s Roxy and played a set that was recorded for later radio broadcast. Reed and his road band (which included Michael Fonfara on keys and Marty Fogel on sax) sound like they're having a fine time, and with free jazz legend Don Cherry sitting in, the band's frequent jams give this an exploratory feel that sets it apart from some of Reed's other live sets of the period.

In 1972, Lou Reed was a minor cult hero to a handful of rock critics and left-of-center music fans who championed his former band, the Velvet Underground, but he was unknown to the mainstream music audience. By 1986, Reed was a rock & roll icon, widely hailed as a master songwriter and one of the founding fathers of punk, glam, noise rock, and any number of other vital rock subgenres; he even scored a few hits along the way. If you want to know what happened during those 14 years to make such a difference, the answer can be found in The RCA & Arista Album Collection, a 17-disc box set that brings together nearly all of Reed's recorded work from this period…

Songs for Drella is a concept album by Lou Reed and John Cale, both formerly of the Velvet Underground, and is dedicated to the memory of Andy Warhol, their mentor, who had died unexpectedly in 1987. Drella was a nickname for Warhol coined by Warhol superstar Ondine, a contraction of Dracula and Cinderella, used by Warhol's crowd but never liked by Warhol himself. The song cycle focuses on Warhol's interpersonal relations and experiences, with songs falling roughly into three categories: Warhol's first-person perspective (which makes up the vast majority of the album), third-person narratives chronicling events and affairs, and first-person commentaries on Warhol by Reed and Cale themselves…
