The debut album by John Foxx And The Maths will be released by Metamatic Records on 21st March, 2011. Interplay is a collaboration between John Foxx and electronic composer and synthesizer collector, Benge (Ben Edwards). He's best known for his 2008 album, Twenty Systems which was described by Brian Eno as 'a brilliant contribution to the archaeology of electronic music.' The album will initially be available as a Deluxe Digipack limited to 1500 copies, designed by Jonathan Barnbrook whose previous work includes David Bowie's Heathen and Reality albums. Moody and atmospheric, but also full of songs that are actually more pop than avant garde, Interplay pulls various strands of electronic music together from early 80s electro to 70s Krautrock, even flashes of Cabaret Voltaire and Foxx s first band, Ultravox!

John Foxx's second solo effort is a lovely slice of underrated, early-'80s pop/rock with a decidedly electronic touch. Starting with an absolutely killer track – the steady Krautrock-rhythm pulse and shimmer of "Europe After the Rain," Foxx's elegantly passionate vocal is the icing on the cake – The Garden finds Foxx working with a core band on a series of similarly striking tunes.

Metamatic, META18CD | rel: 2008 | 525Mb

Released for Foxx and Gordon’s autumn 2008 live dates, Impossible is a dark and dreamy album of known tracks revisited. Many of John Foxx’s songs take on a life of their own when played live and they will inevitably evolve. Impossible is an album of re-recorded songs, taking tracks old and new and approaching them in a new way, many of which are similar to the way they have been played live.

Former Ultravox leader John Foxx continues to explore his minimal, electronic pop on The Pleasures Of Electricity. Taking a cue from Kraftwerk, one of Foxx's most obvious stylistic touchstones, Pleasures is a streamlined monorail of lock-step computer-generated beats and wiry synthesizer melodies with an equal emphasis on dark, atmospherics and energized, danceable rhythms.

Despite initially sounding a bit like the kind of music you hear bleating out of the New Age stand in garden centres, Torn Sunset takes John Foxx's music into new territory. From an ambience and atmosphere point of view, Torn Sunset continues in a very similar style to Translucence, Foxx's 2003 collaboration with Harold Budd. But it's the warmth and individuality of Theo Travis' flute that makes the album so distinctive.

Mirrorball is a melodically affecting exercise in ethereal ambience – precisely what you might expect from two artists whose CVs list collaborations with Harold Budd. That's not to set Budd up as an overarching influence, though: Foxx and Guthrie come to this album with their own long-established and distinctive pedigrees, the former as an electronic pioneer and the latter as chief architect of the Cocteau Twins' unique dream pop lullabies.

John Foxx remains a truly remarkable, always insightful figure. The ever-industrious producer is due to release new album 'London Overgrown' on October 23rd, a record which comes equipped with an intriguing note. The material was seemingly inspired by the ruins John Foxx encountered in the early 80s, a time when large swathes of London were derelict and 'gentrification' had yet to become such a buzz word.
