Battle Chasers is an American fantasy comic book series by Joe Madureira, launched in April 1998. It was one of the most popular American comics series in the late 1990s. Battle Chasers was one of the initial three comic book series published under the Cliffhanger label, which Madureira founded with fellow artists J. Scott Campbell (Danger Girl) and Humberto Ramos (Crimson) for Jim Lee's Image Comics imprint, WildStorm. When Wildstorm was sold to DC Comics in 1999, the Cliffhanger titles moved along, and issues 5 through 8 of Battle Chasers were published by DC, until Madureira left the publisher, and released Battle Chasers #9 through Image Comics…

Battle Chasers was one of the initial three comic book series published under the Cliffhanger label, which Madureira founded with fellow artists J. Scott Campbell () and Humberto Ramos () for Jim Lee's Image Comics imprint, WildStorm. When Wildstorm was sold to DC Comics in 1999, the Cliffhanger titles moved along, and issues 5 through 8 of Battle Chasers were published by DC, until Madureira left the publisher, and released Battle Chasers #9 through Image Comics. The last issue, #9 was published in September 2001 and had a cliffhanger-ending that was never concluded, as Battle Chasers #10 (scheduled for November 2001) was never released because Madureira canceled it. Joe Madureira left the comic industry and placed the series "on hold" to pursue a career as a video game designer. This compilation is complete to the best of my knowledge. Despite being unfinished, still great stuff. And I love Red Monika.

Joe Harriott's music goes virtually unheard today, yet the alto saxophonist exerted a powerful influence on early free jazz in England. The Jamaican-born and raised Harriott played with his countrymen, trumpeter Dizzy Reece and tenor saxophonist Wilton "Bogey" Gaynair, before emigrating to England in 1951. In London, Harriott worked freelance and in the band of trumpeter Pete Pitterson. In 1954, he landed an important gig with drummer Tony Kinsey; the next year he played in saxophonist Ronnie Scott's big band.

Joe Pass was pretty much the undisputed king of jazz guitar during the last two decades of his life, and the appearance of yet one more set of previously unreleased material is cause for celebration. These unaccompanied performances come from a two-day engagement in 1990 at the Vine Street Bar & Grill in Hollywood, with the guitarist in fine form throughout, (though liner note writer Jim Ferguson notes a "surprise" chord by Pass in frustration at having missed a note near the end of "What Is There to Say?").
