Rebecca Miller's film is a portrait of her father, his times and insights, built around impromptu interviews shot over many years in the family home. This celebration of the great American playwright is quite different from what the public has ever seen. It is a close consideration of a singular life shadowed by the tragedies of the Red Scare and the death of Marilyn Monroe; a bracing look at success and failure in the public eye; an honest accounting of human frailty; a tribute to one artist by another.

Released in the summer of 1970, Number 5 was the fifth LP by the Steve Miller Band in just over two years. While it compares favorably to its immediate predecessor, Your Saving Grace, it is not quite up to the consistent excellence of the potent Brave New World from the previous summer. However, it does have a fair share of delights, especially the opening triumvirate of "Good Morning," "I Love You," and "Going to the Country." These selections, and all of side one, have a distinctly more rural feel than did previous recordings, due perhaps to the fact that the tracks were recorded in Nashville.

Timothy Lee Miller presents SOMETHING MORE, eight original jazz compositions that explore the unique relationships that the composer has with his family. Expanding upon something as simple as a photograph or a memory, Miller's noir-influenced jazz expands his reflections beyond words, and instead creates story through moods. The album features both contemporary compositions, as late as 2017, as well as some that Miller had written back in the 1980s.

Debuting with a pop-rap style influenced as much by John Mayer as Macklemore, singer/rapper Jake Miller first emerged while still a student at the University of Miami. Miller got his start in high school, posting videos online from his Weston, Florida home. In 2011, he self-released his debut EP, Summer Session, and performed his first live gig, opening for Snoop Dogg. His second EP, Spotlight, arrived in 2012. After signing a deal with the E1 Music label, he released the Road Less Traveled EP in 2013.

It shouldn't be surprising that Harold Ashby has a decidedly Ellington slant to this CD. A tenor saxophonist in the mold of Ben Webster (who first introduced him to the maestro) Ashby was a frequent substitute on call until he replaced the departed Jimmy Hamilton in 1968, where he remained until the year after Ellington's death. On this relatively rare date as a leader, the veteran devotes half of his program to music from the vast Ellington repertoire, including a strutting take of "What Am I Here For?" and a lush treatment of "Mood Indigo" that initially features Mulgrew Miller's old-fashioned stride piano and Rufus Reid's arco bass in unison with Ashby.

Rick Miller: "This is my latest album, in the genre of what I would call Progressive Rock. That term defining the type of music that was made famous throughout the 70s by bands such as Genesis, The Moody Blues and Pink Floyd. The music is soft, dark and melancholy because that's the way I like it, so if you like your Prog Rock with lots of jazz fusion or heavy metal in it, you may not find what you're looking for here. I do hope you enjoy though.. and thanks for listening."

Lorenzo, the much-travelled clown, is a Venetian glass ornament belonging to the composer, Marcus Blunt. Lorenzo inspired both Blunt's work for bassoon and piano, at the heart of this disc, and a drawing by Frank Bayford, which emerged as a natural focus for a growing collection of chamber works for bassoon. The music of 'The Much-Travel'd Clown' captures the mercurial character of the bassoon: an outwardly cheerful clown who sometimes expresses an inner sadness.

1969's "Brave New World" is the album that not only fully integrates the blues-rock stomp and hazy trippiness of "Children Of The Future" and "Sailor", but also adds a newfound pop gloss. Indeed, elements of this album would reappear throughout Miller's stratospherically successful mid-'70s commercial heyday: the slyly humorous centerpiece rocker "Space Cowboy" was name-checked on "The Joker," and the main riff of "My Dark Hour" (a studio collaboration between Miller and Paul McCartney) would later reappear as the intro to the huge hit "Fly Like An Eagle." Brave New World also benefits heavily from the contributions of famed British keyboardist Nicky Hopkins.
