This is a split album dedicated to the lost innovators of the baritone saxophone. Leo Parker did release a small handful of albums on Blue Note, although Melvin "Sax" Gill is more obscure (perhaps more known for his session work, if that). They both play a style of jazz that is post-big band, pre-bebop, the jump in the juke joint that was a precursor to R&B and rock'n'roll.
