Trumpeter Lucia Ianniello presents her unique drumless group for her second album on SLAM. This album is meant to conclude the research around the figure of Horace Tapscott and the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra (P.A.P.A.), which the trumpeter started tracing with her first CD 'Maintenant'. On this album, in addition to her original compositions, there are songs from the P.A.P.A.'s repertoire, especially those of Horace Tapscott and Jesse Sharps, Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq and Michael Session who Tapscott used to delegate to conduct the Arkestra in the '70s. There is also a song of pianist and singer, Linda Hill, one of the founders and a very active member of the movement of which the Arkestra was the musical and collective expression.

Chuck's exquisite and sensitive compositions, including the spectacular mini-concerto for piano "Concerto Peligrosso", will make up the majority of the tracks on the new record. Other highlights will include his arrangement of a beautiful American folk song "All the Pretty Horses", and a tribute to Sonny Rollins called "Sound of Sonny" based on the saxophone colossus' solo on the tune "Toot, Toot, Tootsie, Goodbye".

This album was originally released in 1988 as "Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy". Vocal virtuoso Bobby McFerrin ranks among the most distinctive and original singers in contemporary music – equally adept in jazz, pop, and classical settings, his octave-jumping trademark style, with its rhythmic inhalations and stop-on-a-dime shifts from falsetto to deep bass notes often sounds like the work of at least two or three singers at once, while at the same time sounding quite unlike anyone else…

What's that you say? A New York-based Jazz Orchestra as admirable as this one whose recording debut was delayed for more than twenty-five years? There ought to be a law! Well, in this case it wasn't the law but a lawyer who sidetracked the orchestra's debut for so many years. His name is Brett Gold, and he set aside his trombone and dream of leading a band while in college, following instead his parents' wish that he pursue a more practical (and financially rewarding) career as an attorney.

Already 30 years that his first album as a band leader, «Spleen», was released with the “New Musette” Quartet. Already 30 years that he restored the image of a so called old fashioned instrument, bound to play for Saturday nights ballrooms. Already 30 years that he is navigating in all kinds of musical styles, flirting with salsa, merging with tango, without losing his soul, deeply anchored in his French-Italian roots.

Pediatrician by day, and musician by night, Paul Rossy recently sought out the expertise of singer-songwriter Ian Kelly to help him create an original album. Last April, Dr. Rossy found a way to combine his two greatest passions by launching his very first album of original songs at a concert benefiting the Montreal Children’s Hospital, where he practises medicine. The event was held April 29th, in a packed Corona Theatre, and allowed the singer-songwriter to raise funds thanks to all those present, and to the kind generosity of the Alan & Roula Rossy Family Foundation. On the album, recorded at the Pierre Marchand Studio, you can hear: Joel Kerr on upright bass, Mark Nelson on drums, Jonathan Cayer on piano/keyboard, François Jalbert on guitar, Annie Dominique on saxophone, Alexis French on trumpet and flugelhorn, Jean-Nicolas Trottier on trombone, and Lévy Bourbonnais on harmonica.
