Brian Donohoe's Progger is a force - forged in the same cauldron as Snarky Puppy (Donohoe was a writer and early band member), the band has taken an expansive and heavier approach to music. In contrast to the 2018 release 'Scattering', and despite the intriguing title 'Dystopia', the band's new album finds intense focus among chaos, bringing the power of four guitarists from the band's two hubs of Brooklyn and Austin TX. Progger proves the name every time - progressive music (with a cynical twist) laid over intricate compositions. Best with headphones on this one.

Dystopia is the fifteenth studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth, released on January 22, 2016. The album, produced by Dave Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, is the first by the band since 2004's The System Has Failed not to feature longtime drummer Shawn Drover and also the first not to feature guitarist Chris Broderick since 2009's Endgame. These roles have been filled by Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler and Angra guitarist Kiko Loureiro, respectively.

Kibuka is made up of members Dean Dennis (ex-Clock DVA) and Josephine Snook. The album Dystopia opens with some familiar Clock DVA Buried Dreams sounds including trippy samples throughout. The music is very experimental with vocal samples bouncing throughout reminding me of some of the things that Cabaret Voltaire were playing around with on their Conversation album…
Michael Gordon - Dystopia & Rewriting Beethoven's Seventh Symphony (2015)

Combining two of Michael Gordons most daring large-scale orchestral works, Dystopia documents the composers dream of not only stretching the capabilities of the modern symphony, but in his words, of exploring the gray areas between harmony and dissonance. On its own, the music of Dystopia paints a picture of one citys future in this case, the city of Los Angeles that is frenzied, chaotic, dazzling, electric, and ultimately…loud. Gordon had discovered similar sensibilities in composing Rewriting Beethovens Seventh Symphony. Using one element from each of the original movements as a starting point, Gordon crafts a post-modern take on the masters classical forms that managed both to mesmerize and scandalize the audience at Beethovenfest Bonn, who commissioned the work for its 2006 premiere. Taken together, both works re-imagine the 21st c. symphony as equally reverent of the past (if not also a bit irreverent), while envisioning, as an L.A. Times review of the Dystopia premiere put it, a drunken fugue of the future.
