Following the warm response that graced their return CD, Icon, in May 2005 and the Icon EP in August 2005, John Wetton and Geoff Downes are now offering an acoustic DVD filmed for a broadcast special at TV studios during October 2005. Stripping bare a selection of their classic songs, John and Geoff demonstrate how they originally sounded around the piano, accompanied by acoustic guitar or acoustic bass. ELO’s Hugh McDowell joins them on cello and the three virtuosos clearly enjoy the opportunity to relax while performing in front of the cameras. At the time of recording this broadcast, they were keeping quiet about the plans for a 25th anniversary reunion of the founder members of Asia, including Steve Howe and Carl Palmer, which were publicised in February 2006. 2005 and 2006 has seen the original "Heat of the Moment" grace the soundtracks of 2 Hollywood blockbusters, the number 1 film of Summer 2005 [40 year old virgin], and Pierce Brosnan’s Golden Globe nominee "The Matador" which has graced the top 10 both sides of the Atlantic.

Icon is a studio album recorded and released by Asia band members John Wetton and Geoffrey Downes in 2005. It is the first in the Icon franchise, though they previously recorded in 2002 the album Wetton Downes, a precursor to the Icon series…

The original Asia lineup supplied several tracks that were spun endlessly by MTV during the early '80s, as the band scored a mega-hit with their chart-topping 1982 self-titled debut. But the group was unable to retain its success, no doubt due to constant lineup fluctuation and inner-band bickering. By the early 21st century however, all was well in the Asia camp once more, as the original lineup had reunited.

Icon II - Rubicon is the second collaborative effort by John Wetton and Geoff Downes who first worked together in Asia in the early 80's. Compared to the first Icon album, Icon II - Rubicon is certainly more "iconic" and might well be the finest set of songs that Wetton and Downes have ever written together, at least since the first two Asia albums that were released more than 20 years earlier. I think they have matured as songwriters and certainly as lyricists and there is nothing as banal as Heat Of The Moment or Don't Cry here.

The songwriting core of '80s supergroup Asia was vocalist/bassist John Wetton and keyboardist Geoffrey Downes. Guitarist Steve Howe and drummer Carl Palmer contributed to the awesome whole, but virtually every song on 1982's number-one behemoth Asia and 1983's Alpha were officially credited to Wetton and Downes. After the original lineup splintered following those two albums, Downes continued to lead various incarnations of the group with occasional, gradually dwindling involvement from the others.

John Wetton's early-2003 album Rock of Faith appeared after a two-year string of concert releases. It was written at a crossroads in the singer/bassist's life, in the wake of his 50th birthday – it was also occasioned by his extended visit to Vienna, which stimulated him artistically, and recorded in the wake of the dire world events of 2001 halfway around the globe. The ex-Family/King Crimson/Asia member rises to the occasion here, with an album evocative of his progressive rock past, yet slightly leaner and more focused than most of those efforts ever were, and supported by Geoffrey Downes (keyboards), Clive Nolan (keyboards), John Mitchell (electric guitars), and Steve Christey (drums)…

A reissue of an album originally released in Japan in 1994 under the title Voice Mail, 1995's Battle Lines continues John Wetton's career path over the preceding 15 years – there's more pop than prog in his prog pop, in other words. Basically indistinguishable from a late-period Asia album, the ten tracks on Battle Lines were mostly co-written by Wetton and keyboardist Bob Marlette. The re-release garnered a new cover and bonus track - acoustic version of the title track.

Voice Mail is a studio album recorded by John Wetton. Originally released in Japan-only in 1994. It was re-released in Europe under the title Battle Lines with the same content but a different cover. Musically, the style of the album somewhat resembles that of Wetton's band Asia.
