Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music
One thing is quite certain: ou can love this album to death or loathe it with every fiber of your being, but you can’t really ignore it. From the gorgeusly disturbing gatefold sleeve, displaying a masterpiece of Gothic artwork by Swiss cult artist R.H. Giger (of “Alien” fame), down to the unabashed self-indulgence of its musical content, “Brain Salad Surgery” is a compendium of everything progressive rock is all about, the good, the bad and the ugly. It is loud, metallic, and harsh, undeniably bombastic, though it can also be melodic and soothing – a true rollercoaster ride of an album, swinging from the beautiful, English choirboy vocals of “Jerusalem” (with wonderful lyrics courtesy of one Mr William Blake) to the all-out progressive orgy that is “Karn Evil 9”.

This is the full video of my talk at the 21 Convention in Melbourne. I had a lot of fun meeting some wonderful people, including the organiser, Anthony Johnson, and the MC, Steve Mayeda, as well as many others. A big "Thank You" to Anthony, Steve, and the team for their gracious invitation! This is the outline I gave out as a hand-out. It should come in handy as you watch the video.
One of the most obvious "common denominators" that I found when I was meeting guys who were "naturals" with women… was their ability to make women LAUGH and SMILE. The more I saw this, the more I thought that these guys must understand how to be "funny". This turned out to be only PART of the equation. The REST of the equation was the HOW.
It's a Study Course on Epestemological Metaphors to Heal by Seminar by David Grove who was one of the most innovative, creative and enigmatic therapists and his influence as the Pioneer of Clean Language is extensive and growing more so all the time. Grove’s area of expertise was eliciting and utilising naturalistic trance to powerfully yet respectfully uncover the source information behind his clients problem patterns. To do this, he developed the potent ‘pacing’ syntax and carefully honed set of questions that have come to be known as Clean Language – and he used these with art, insight and grace. David’s major insight (which is now being borne out by research in cognitive linguistics) was that every thought and every feeling we have as human beings is underlain by what might be called Epistemological Metaphors. In a sense these metaphors can be thought of as the very language of our unconscious.
Imagine: You’re a young man living 10,000 years ago… in a tribe with 50 others. In your tribe, there is a dominant, charismatic, powerful male leader. You admire and respect him, but also fear him. Every time you see him, you avert your gaze to avoid direct eye contact. Lately, you’ve noticed that you’re thinking more and more about becoming a leader yourself. You can imagine being admired by others and being the one to lead the hunts for food. You’ve also noticed that your temper and emotions are becoming harder to control. Something seems to be happening inside of you that is making you more and more irritable. You’ve also noticed hair growing on your face and muscles growing on your body…
