David Bowie is the debut studio album by British musician David Bowie, released on 1 June 1967, on Deram Records. Its content bears little overt resemblance to the type of music that later made him famous, such as the folk rock of "Space Oddity" or the glam rock of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. NME critics Roy Carr and Charles Shaar Murray have said, "a listener strictly accustomed to David Bowie in his assorted '70s guises would probably find this debut album either shocking or else simply quaint", while biographer David Buckley describes its status in the Bowie discography as "the vinyl equivalent of the madwoman in the attic".

The full length version clocks in at 7.34, compared the edit which is 5.19 in length. Both versions were mixed by Nile Rodgers (original co-producer of the demo with David) in December of last year. The demo is backed by the live version of ‘Let’s Dance’, which was recorded live at Pacific National Exhibition Coliseum in Vancouver on 12th September 1983 and mixed by Bob Clearmountain. This version can be seen on the Serious Moonlight concert film, and was also previously available on the reverse of the Australian David Bowie Is exhibition as an exclusive yellow vinyl 7” single. The sleeve of the 12” single is a colour variation of the original Let’s Dance single cover.

Changestwobowie is a David Bowie compilation album issued in 1981 by RCA Records. Its title and packaging followed the format of RCA's earlier Bowie compilation, Changesonebowie released in 1976. As well as post-1976 singles, the album collected songs from earlier in Bowie's career that had not appeared on Changesone. However it did not repeat the chart success of the earlier compilation, reaching No. 24 on the UK Album Chart and No. 68 in the United States.

Released in May 1976, Changesonebowie begins where Bowie the artist begins in the collective imagination: not with his 1964 debut single "Liza Jane," but with his 1969 hit "Space Oddity." Even in 1976, it was already a bona fide classic, but it was the odd man out when it originally appeared on the singer's second (and second self-titled) album. David Bowie was a hippie, acoustic singer-songwriter album featuring song titles like "Memory of a Free Festival" and "Unwashed and Slightly Dazed." Especially in the post-Ziggy Stardust "Starman" era, casual fans didn't have much use for the flaxen-haired pseudo-Bob Dylan vibe of David Bowie.
