As Barbra Streisand's first studio album of mainstream pop material in nine years, Higher Ground is something of an oddity. Instead of devoting herself to Broadway standards or a set of radio-oriented pop tunes, Streisand has crafted a record that she intended as a tribute to the power of music as prayer. It's an ambitious project, but for the most part it works, achieving a surprising grace. Higher Ground comprises both traditional religious songs and new material (even "Tell Him," an overblown duet with Celine Dion, vaguely touches on that theme), with grandiose arrangements by Marvin Hamlisch.

"The Way We Were" is the fifteenth studio album recorded by American vocalist Barbra Streisand. It was released on January 1, 1974 by Columbia Records. The record was compiled immediately following the commercial success of lead single "The Way We Were". A majority of the material on the album was meant for the singer's unreleased project The Singer while other songs included were previously released in prior years. Following the distribution of the soundtrack for the 1973 film of the same name, Columbia added a caption to Streisand's LP (Featuring the Hit Single "The Way We Were" and "All in Love Is Fair") in order to minimize confusion between the two albums.

"Wet" is an album released by Barbra Streisand in 1979. The album is a concept album of sorts with all the songs referring to, or expressing different interpretations of, water. Wet is also the first and the last word sung on the album. The album was a major success for Barbra Streisand, due largely to the album's #1 hit single, "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)", a duet with American disco singer Donna Summer which underwent a retitling and change of emphasis in order to qualify under the water theme. The third track on the album, "Splish Splash", is Barbra Streisand's cover of the Bobby Darin classic, which featured background vocals by Toto lead singer Bobby Kimball.

Barbra Streisand…And Other Musical Instruments (also called And Other Musical Instruments) is the fourteenth studio album by American singer Barbra Streisand. It was released on November 2, 1973 by Columbia Records. The album was made available following a 1973 live television special promoted to improve Streisand's image and sound. With world music as the primary genre, the album's instrumentation varies greatly; even items such as kitchen utensils were used to create melodies and beats. With a majority of the songs on the album being cover songs, Streisand also re-recorded various tracks that originated earlier in her career. Her manager, Martin Erlichman, was credited as the album's sole and executive producer.
