Teodorico Pedrini is the only 18th century composer of which we know that he wrote European music in China, where he arrived after an eight year long journey from Italy to the Canary Island, Chile, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines. After his arrival in Beijing in 1711, he worked for the emperors Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong until his death in 1746. Until today, he has been appreciated as one of the most important cultural ambassadors for Western music in Asia of all times.

Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock, Singer-Songwriter | MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 00:43:13 | 101 MB
Label: Jaggy D Records | Release Year: 2016

Inspired by the many intimate experiences from his acoustic storytelling concerts, Ray decided to write a collection of musical short stories. Stories, simply, about life. Stiltskin guitarist and collaborator, Uwe Metzler, sketched out some acoustic ideas, and the journey began. Moving through jealousy, anger, hurt, regret, disappointment, fate, and love. Ray often exposes his innermost feelings through his music, and the minimalist production on this collection of songs provides a particularly intimate expression of those emotions. Ray's love of the road has been his musical lifeline, and the journey has been good for him. Whether a concert or an album they are a journey for the soul.

From Broadway With Love contains a dozen great classics from the Broadway show stage. This album features orchestrations which fall into three distinctive styles and as usual Nancy Wilson gives all of these songs her very own treatment. From the no holds barred big band version of 'Hello Dolly' to the swinging treatment of 'I've Got Your Number'. Then there's the rich string orchestra that accompanies her on 'I'll Only Miss Him When I Think Of Him' followed by a much smaller band on 'Makin' Whoopee' and 'This Dream'. Tender Loving Care is an album of love songs but not all sung or orchestrated in the form of slushy ballads. Some are pure romance and love but others really swing like 'Gee Baby, Ain't I Good To You'. Billy May arranges and conducts on this album. Put together these two albums and you have Nancy Wilson at her very best!

After a half century, the music of big band legend Gerald Wilson continues to represent the best that jazz has to offer. Wilson's latest masterpiece, Theme for Monterey, is an homage to this California coastal town that is home to the world-renowned Monterey Jazz Festival. Commissioned for the Festival's 40th anniversary, this grand suite (which clocks in at nearly 45 minutes) conjures the sites and spirit of Monterey. Also included are Wilson's rendition of Gershwin's Summertime and Parker/Gillespie's Anthropology, which premiered at the Library of Congress in 1996, in honor of the library's archiving of Wilson's life's work.

Jacky Terrasson & Cassandra Wilson - Rendezvous (1997)  Music

Genre: Jazz, Vocal Jazz | Label: Blue Note Records

For this notable set, pianist Jacky Terrasson teams up with the smoky, chance-taking vocalist Cassandra Wilson, either Lonnie Plaxico or Kenny Davis on bass and percussionist Mino Cinelu. The music is quite impressionistic and atmospheric. Terrasson and Wilson stick to standards, but their renditions of such songs as "Old Devil Moon," "My Ship," "Tea for Two" and even "Tennessee Waltz" are quite haunting and floating, slightly disturbing and occasionally sensuous. Terrasson, who takes "Autumn Leaves" and "Chicago 1987" (the one non-standard) as solo pieces, was on his way to forming his own style, while Wilson had certainly found her niche. An intriguing matchup. ~ Scott Yanow

Verve 60th Rare Albums SHM-CD Reissue Series. Reissue with SHM-CD format. Intimate listening from pianist Teddy Wilson, but surprisingly lively listening too – as Teddy's as fleet on the keys as ever, and maybe even more so in this well-recorded session from the 50s! The record's got a great Verve vibe – simple, unadorned presentation of the Teddy Wilson genius at its mature height – with bass and drums to help bring in a gentle bit of rhythm, but Teddy handling most of the energy himself – with an amazing command of the keyboard that really transforms these familiar tunes. The approach is like Erroll Garner at his best from the time – subtle magic from simple sources – but Teddy's lighter, and more lyrical too – especially on his flourishes on the keys.

Features 24 bit remastering and comes with a mini-description. It isn't fair to limit Jack Wilson to two sides. The range of players with whom the pianist has performed: from Sammy Davis and Eartha Kitt to Jackie McLean and Roland Kirk, makes clear he is multi-dimensional. All that range is not demonstrated on this set, but – despite its title – this is not simply a program of uptempo tracks followed by an equal number of ballads.
