Live recording of the last xmas concert that the three greater vocalists of the century gave together, as "The Three Tenors". In December 23th 1999, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and the unforgettable Luciano Pavarotti, met at the opulent Konzerthaus in Vienna to celebrate Christmas and the upcoming change of the century and the millenium. Legendary and majestic performance, this concert is a mixture of solos and duets as well as all of them performing together. The repertoire is spanning from traditional Christmas songs to more popular versions, and creates a wonderful xmas atmosphere. Enjoy.

Back in 1990, three of the world's most celebrated tenors – namely, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti–combined forces to create the Three Tenors, now celebrated on a best-of CD. They gave their first concert in Rome. The event was recorded and went on to become one of the best-selling classical titles of all time. This latest release brings together tracks from that night in Rome (including "Nessun dorma" and a competitive rendition of "O sole mio") with music performed in a 1994 concert in Los Angeles and at the 1998 event in Paris where the Three Tenors sang to an audience of thousands with the Eiffel Tower as their backdrop. – Amazon

"The Three Tenors were Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras, arguably the three most popular male vocalists in contemporary opera. With each the subject of considerable success and acclaim as a solo performer, their occasional collaborations as the Three Tenors were guaranteed media events, selling out stadiums and even reaching the upper rungs of the pop charts with their albums and live concert videos."

Resplendent in voice and manner, José Carreras, Placido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti deliver 21 songs of traditional sacred music and secular numbers in a remarkable 1999 live recording from the opulent Viennese concert hall (Konzerthaus), with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and a renowned choir. The Three Tenors are practically as famous as the faces of Mount Rushmore and inspire perhaps even more awe and adulation around the world than the four presidents. The performances–whether alone, in tandem, or simply as the threesome that has made them collectively famous–are generally impeccable for their passion, nuance, and sheer tour de force vocal artistry. Reaching often into the classical realm for such works as the traditional German carol "Susani," Strauss's and Brahms's "Wiegenlied," plus traditional Polish and Spanish pieces, the trio also visits Pavarotti's "Ave Maria, dolce Maria" (cowritten with Vittoriano Benvenuti), and "Un nuevo siglo," written by Domingo's son. Only John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Happy Christmas/War Is Over" doesn't quite work in this grand setting. –Martin Keller

Brian Setzer takes his horn-fueled big band on a sleigh ride into Christmas/holiday music with generally impressive results. Meshing his rockabilly guitar solos with brassy charts and a lounge/Vegas sensibility that is part tribute and part retro characterization, Setzer dusts off and polishes up obscure nuggets like Kay Starr's "(Everybody's Waitin' For) The Man With the Bag" and Lionel Hampton's swinging "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus.
