Finally on Blu-Ray! This electrifying concert was recorded in May 2001 in the "New Morning" club in Paris, one of the most important European jazz clubs. The packed house experienced Robben Ford in peak form. It was a truly classy performance on the stage that night. Accompanied by Louis Pardini (keyboards), Jimmy Earl (bass) and Brannen Temple (drums) Robben Ford showed every facet of his furious guitar playing. With numbers like "Start It Up", "Moonchild Blues", "Deaf, Dumb And Blind" or "You Got Me Knockin'" the virtuoso excelled himself and played blues rock which simply can't be bettered.

Two people struggle to make the best of a bleak existence in this powerful, deliberately paced drama. An elderly man (Janos Derzsi) shares a cottage with his daughter (Erika Bok) in a sparsely populated village plagued by constant windstorms. While the man tries to scrape together a living using his horse to haul things, the animal is growing old and feeble and refuses to cooperate. Stuck at home, the man performs what chores he can still do now that he's lost the use of one arm, and except for rare passers-by, the man and his daughter have no contact with the outside world and rarely speak, their days punctuated by the same dinner of boiled potatoes every evening. When the well on their property goes dry, the two set out to find a better life elsewhere, but fate offers no respite from a grim march towards mortality. A Torinoi Lo (aka The Turin Horse) was directed by the celebrated Hungarian filmmaker Bela Tarr in collaboration with his editor and spouse Agnes Hranitzky; shortly before the film was released, Tarr announced that this was to be his final project as a director.

Trust Gianna Nannini to come up with a provocative album cover. Her big break came 30 years previously with California and its infamous portrait of the Statue of Liberty holding a vibrator in place of a torch, and on 2011's Io e Te she proudly displays her belly pregnant with her first child, at the tender age of 56 – news that sparkled a debate in Italy about a woman's proper age to conceive…

It may seem unlikely that Nikolai Roslavets would have consciously composed works in imitation of Alexander Scriabin, so that both composers would have pieces that could be matched up, title for title, as they are on this album by pianist Anya Alexeyev. But once one hears the music, the influence of Scriabin is obvious and omnipresent, so such a gesture on Roslavets' part as naming and numbering his pieces after Scriabin's doesn't seem farfetched. Roslavets' Two Poems, Five Preludes, and Three Etudes correspond to the identically named Scriabin works, which are paired here, and even the two piano sonatas have a superficial resemblance in their two-movement formats.

Soft Universe is the fourth release of electronic act Pnau. It is their highest charting release to date and featured a new "rock-anthem" sound unlike the duo's straightforward electronic dance sound for which they were previously known. The album received generally positive reviews, with some claiming the release to be a solid follow-up to not only Pnau, but also to Walking on a Dream and Groove Armada's Black Light, both of which featured heavy involvement from Littlemore and were released after Pnau's previous CD. Many critics, however, expressed mixed feelings concerning the new sound and direction, mostly in comparison to the duo's "quirky" sound and themes of their 2007 release. The album peaked at No. 13 on the Australian albums chart.

Digitally remastered release that contains, for the first time ever on CD, a complete live performance in Manchester by the legendary Shelly Manne quintet with Joe Gordon and Richie Kamuca. This short lived group had produced the celebrated multi-volume albums at the Blackhawk, in San Francisco, the previous year (with Victor Feldman on piano instead of Russ Freeman), as well as celebrated recordings of Henry Mancini's Peter Gunn music. The Manchester concert, which was only previously released on an extremely rare long out of print LP, showcases the quintet in high spirits, and offers a new opportunity to appreciate the talents of trumpeter Joe Gordon, who would die soon after.

Telemann had made reference to writing twenty operas during his four years in Leipzig, but sadly the scores have been lost and very few librettos and arias are extant. Michael Maul has proven that some 40 arias discovered at the Frankfurt University Library were from Telemann’s Germanicus and its modern premiere took place with Gotthold Schwarz and the Saxon Baroque Orchestra. Germanicus is a tale of love, lust and political intrigue based very loosely on events during the first-century occupation of Teutonic territory by the Romans. Since only arias survive, for recitatives Maul substituted a tongue-in-cheek narrative wittily delivered by actor Dieter Bellmann.
