Genre: Documentary | Director: George Stevens Jr.

Biography of director George Stevens by his son. It includes clips from many of his films with commentary by the actors and by directors such as Frank Capra, John Huston and Alan Pakula, among others. Also included are Stevens's war "home movies," found only after his death. Assigned by Eisenhower to film the war in Europe, Stevens used the opportunity to produce, at the same time, the only color footage ever shot in World War II. There is breathtaking film of D-Day and its aftermath; the triumphal march through Paris of the Allied liberators; and the unspeakable horrors of Dachau. This is what Goya might have done with a movie camera. On a more mundane level is a segment on Cecil B. DeMille's 1950 underhanded attempt to oust Joseph L. Mankiewicz, then president, from the Directors' Guild, which Stevens was instrumental in blocking.

"Make It Big" is the second studio album from British pop duo Wham!, released in 1984. It was mostly recorded at Studio Miraval in Southern France to escape the press and enable George Michael to work peacefully and mixed at Good Earth Studios in London and Marcadet Studios in Paris. In comparison to their earlier work, the duo had more control over the album's production, as George Michael became the sole credited producer, a position he would subsequently hold on all future releases until the group split in 1986.

Reissue with the latest remastering and the original cover artwork. Comes with a description written in Japanese. You may not know European piano player Karel Boehlee, but you'll definitely sit up and take notice after hearing this sweet little set – because he's a hell of a pianist, with a wonderfully lyrical touch! The album's got a masterful sound right from the start – a confident approach to the keys that often has Boehlee leaving just the right amount of space between notes, as he makes his way through the set with very well-matched accompaniment from bassist Frans Bouwmeester and Hans Eykenaar – two more players we don't know at all, but who round out Karel's playing wonderfully. Titles include the great title original "Switch" – plus variations on "Autumn Leaves", "Summertime", "Jest", "On A Clear Day", "Forest Flower", "United Blues", and "Recorda Me"

Reissue with the latest remastering. Features original cover artwork. Comes with a descripton in Japanese. One of those key records that has George Adams and Don Pullen reinventing expectations of jazz for the 80s – both musicians with plenty of ear for the outside, but also coming back home with a well-rounded, deeply-rooted approach that's crucial in taking the American jazz legacy another step forward! Like some of their similar contemporaries, who could also be avant at times, and straight at others – Adams and Pullen have no concern with setting themselves in one camp or another – and not only flesh out the spirit of the record with both of those aspects of their playing, but also have some surprisingly bluesy undercurrents at times.

After 24 years off the scene, pianist George Wallington surprised many who had forgotten by him by recording this solo CD, the first of three. Although all ten of the selections are Wallington originals, his boppish style was largely unchanged from the 1950s, and some of the tunes are based on the chord changes of more common standards. However, the melodies are fresh, Wallington's improvisations are full of joyful swing, and the overall results (available as a Japanese import through Denon) are quite appealing…
